Happy Monday!

Can you believe it is Monday again already? Where is August going???
Lately I have been getting a lot of emails from readers who have tried to find a product I list in the FAQ section called Killz Primer. I am not sure if this is a canadian product, but it is carried by Home Depot here in Canada so I am guessing it should be available (maybe under a different name?) in the states.

If you don't recognize the brand, maybe you will recognize the can on your next trip to the home improvement store (photo from my upcoming e-book).

And now I want to introduce you all to our new dining room table, Calypso. She was in the midst of an identity crisis so I thought a name might help give her some direction.

Here I am lovingly caressing Calypso's new "driftwood" top (photo also from the book, which will include instructions).
And yes, my hands really look like that when I am out working! I use gloves occasionally but I really prefer to get my hands dirty. I heard about a product called liquid gloves recently that I think I will try out soon though.
Doesn't she have great legs? *wink*

She is a beautiful mermaid-inspired table and I can't wait to show you her in the house!

Your Fresh Coat Fridays have inspired me and given me the (crazy) confidence to think that I might be able to pull off a transformation of my own. Any tips/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated:

Thanks in advance, and wish me luck!

I think Kilz is available all over the U.S. I buy it in Texas all the time and my dad's used it as long as I can remember. :)

Killz is available in the states under the same name. I know you can get it at Home Depot and I think Lowe's carries it too.

I can also vouch for Kilz being sold in Texas. I've even bought it in the spray can like you showed.

Kilz here in Ohio as well. I have found that the cheap off brand spray primer works just as well for little objects like picture frames. Gotta save where you can!

I still have white paint on my hands from a weekend project, for some reason it just won't come off! It makes me feel good to see it though, feels like I accomplished something.

Holly! i have an almost identical table sitting in my garage waiting to be finished. it's been cleaned, sanded and is ready to be primed but hubby and i couldnt' decide what to do with the top. paint it white? sand it down and stain it dark? um, that was before i knew i could make the top look like driftwood. when oh when will this book be available so i can finish my table using your lovely technique??? :)

Kilz is readily available-walmart even carries it in "regular" and "no-smell". the latter is about .50c more per can.

I've used Kilz primer all the time. It's the best stuff! They also make an "oderless" one too. Though I still think it smells! :o)

Cute table! I love your blog! I have seen Kilz in almost every home improvement store I frequent but here is a link from the Kilz website as to stores that stock their products.

I absolutely love being inspired to paint furniture. I have painted many pieces in the past and it's been awhile since I've painted. Watching you has inspired me to get back into a really fun hobby! Thanks for the all the info!

I am a "lurker" that has come out of the closet to comment on your table. Coincidentally, I have purchased not one, but two of these little beauties in the last couple of weeks. I have redone both for my craftroom...I chose to go black legs with a red chestnut finish on top. I love mine...but yours is gorgeous too! So fun to see how people change the look of the same item!
