Hi Everyone!! I have been working hard this week to finally share this with you guys, then sure enough Blogger wouldn't allow me to log in... but better late than never so I am going to jump right in.
Here is how the laundry looked from the hall pre-reno (Wren will be guiding the before tour for us today):
And here it is today! I am WAYY too impatient to wait for a sunny day to shoot these pics, and as fate dictated it is the rainiest day of the year today... so excuse the slightly cool skew to the photos. The walls are Pratt & Lambert's Wyndham Grey and I LOVE the bright white ceiling and trim against it~
While it was large and fairly functional before I always had troubles transferring laundry from the wash to the dryer without half of it landing on the floor. We decided that we really wanted them to be close together afterward.
To balance the large cabinet we used these Ikea shelves we had removed from out Master bedroom last year.
Where there used to be a HIGHLY disorganized closet piled high with old shoes there is now a wall of hooks for coats and hats and an antique sideboard.
The cabinet, counter and counter legs all come from Ikea (the legs we found in the as-is section for $7 each!). We left a gap between the cabinet and the washer to shove our laundry bins, which are thankfully tall and narrow.
Bee bucket, $8 TJ Maxx
old tin, $1 Salvation Army
I formerly had flour stored in this glass canister in the pantry ($12, Homesense) , but I just don't bake often enough to require much flour so I brought it in here to store laundry soap. The soap scoop is an old camping coffee cup I picked up from Salvation army for $1. Oxiclean is stored in an old jar (also $1 from Salvation Army).
I bought these tins years ago at a cute boutique for $12 and they contain extra buttons and threads off clothes in the event we need to find a replacement easily.
The baskets were also old, and just awaiting a new life (their liners were red ticking stripe, but I bleached them to match the white/grey/yellow scheme).
Entering from the garage used to look like this:
The old apron was my great grandmothers laundry apron and housed all her clothes pins (now displayed in a jar on the shelves).
It is hard to see in the photos, but there is a beautiful vine covering the ENTIRE side of the house and I love seeing it blowing gently out the window in here!
The closet was what greeted you before:
So there ya have it! That's basically what we've been up to these last few months.
It took a while because we did it all ourselves on as small a budget as a reno can have.
Don't believe us? Here's the breakdown:
Tile, mortar, grout = $350
Paint = $40
Beadboard = $200
Pot lights = $40
Trim and baseboards = $100
Counter top = $110
Cabinet = $450
Counter legs = $15
Hooks = $42
Shelves = repurposed
New accessories = $23
Misc trips to Home Depot = $200
Total: $1570.
Now we feel a little better about tackling the kitchen (hopefully in NEAR future *hint hint*)
Edited to add: If you have any questions about anything, as some of you already have asked in the comments, I will do a seperate post detailing any answers so that it is easy to find for everyone!

Simply perfect! spruced up for Suds!
Much more welcoming now! Your hard work paid off, it's amazing!
WOW!!!It is beautiful! I think I'd do a lot more laundry if I had a room like that! :)
It's beautiful holly! I love the grey and white scheme.
Wow what a gorgeous remodel. I like how the shelf brackets kinda match the washer/dryer look. Beautiful room!
wow it looks so fab! I love how {fresh} and {clean} it is!
This is soooo gorgeous! You guys did a tremendous job! And I LOVE the wall color :)

I love when IKEA doesn't look like IKEA, great job! Love the sideboard!
Fabulous! Really diggin' the subtle gray walls and beadboard ceiling. Just gorgeous!
Holly, its beautiful!
Question -
How did you get your seams in the beadboard so perfect? We did a beadboard ceiling in our boot room, and you can still see the seam between the sheets of beadboard even after filling them and painting it.
Unbelievable! I would do laundry ALL THE time if I had a clean organized space like this. Ever think about doing design other than just furniture? :-)
Great tranformation1 I love all the elements you incorporated!
I absolutely ADORE it!! So gorgeous, and super inspiring!
It is so light and airy...makes you want to come in and DO laundry!! I also love that you used a buffet in there for extra storage. Never would have thought to do this!
I have never seen a laundry room look so chic! LOVE it!!! Great job!
Ok, first of all, the laundry room looks amazing. I truly love every detail! But, second of all, Wren is just the cutest thing ever! That smile of hers just melts your heart! I've had a crazy, kind of rough day, and her little face made me smile! Thank you!
Polly
it looks REALLLLLLY beautiful! you should totally start hanging out in the laundry room :)
Awesome, Holly!!! Its so great that you spent so much time and effort on a room that usually gets overlooked. Love the soft, bright palette and all the fun, good looking storage. Can't wait to see what you're going to be doing with the kitchen!
I love an open mudroom/laundry room. Just think of all the dirty clothes you can stash in there. The new paint makes the room feel larger and the details are just the right mix of cottage.
The floors are amazing too. I love the tile. That is a great laundry room.
This is possibly the most fabulously stylish laundry room I have ever seen!! I love it!
It looks absolutely beautiful. I strongly dislike laundry, but that kind of makes me want to do a load or two. :)
omg... this is fab. can i live at your house i'll do the laundry
So beautiful and calming. I love the glass jars with soap. I only use liquid so I am trying to brainstorm a pretty way to store it (lemonade jar with spigot?) Anyway... you should get some shots with Wren touring the new one, it's always fun to see how they grow as the house changes!!
What a lovely laundry room! I like everything about it. Enjoy.
Absolutely gorgeous, Holly!!! Makes me want to redo mine now! Thanks for sharing. ;)
Looks amazing! Does this mean laundry will actually become an enjoyable chore?!?
What a fantastic laundry room! I'll bet it even smells as wonderful as it looks! ;-)
Oh, girl, it is GORGEOUS!! I love the new look, and the gray paint! It is so spacious!! My laundry room is sort of getting a facelift, but nothing like this! I LOVE IT!
Suzanne
it is absolutely ridiculous how lovely your laundry room is! ridiculous i tell you! :) in all seriousness Holly, it's abso-freakin-lutely gorgeous. who wouldn't want to tackle the 1,372 loads of laundry that seem to pile up each week for a family of three in that beautiful room. ;)
My favorite is the beadboard ceiling - love love love it!
It looks so great!! So bright and cheery and so roomy! I wish mine was a tad bigger...it could use a facelift too. Would love to have you come help me. :)
I've been waiting and waiting the whole time ... and the wait was worth it! GORGEOUS. So envious!
Absolutely beautiful! First of all, what a HUGE and bright laundry room you have! I love the color you chose, the beadboard ceiling, and all of the little details. What a great place to do laundry.
Wow, what a dream laundry room! I might actually enjoy doing laundry if I lived at your house :) Great work Holly and Sean!!
Jessica
It looks fan-flippin-tastic, Holly! I'm sure it is so worth all the hours you have put in!!
Looking forward to the FAQ post too, I'd love to hear about how you tackled those spackled ceilings! I'm in love with the beadboard.
I love, love the bead board ceiling! It all just looks wonderful! Great job. xoxo
Wow! I can imagine myself doing laundry in there....and I don't ever imagine myself doing laundry. Awesome transformation!
Love, love, love it!!!
It's so fresh and beautiful!
It's so fresh and beautiful
That is amazing! I love ALL of it!! My favorite before/after is the closet area. Such a terrific space to do laundry in! Way to go!
It is beautiful, Holly! I think it's the prettiest laundry room I've ever seen. You did a fabulous job...it's so clean and crisp looking and so organized. So much attention to detail! The paint color is stunning and your white cabinets really pop against it. Really a lovely job and such a pleasant place to do laundry.
That looks amazing! We're in the process of renovating our laundry and I hope the end result looks as great as yours!!

Oh, sooooo pretty!
It looks really pretty, you did a nice job! Good thinking of picking out a grey colour, I'm using a shade of grey in our bathroom against white trim.
I love the paint color! Nice work!
Holly, I love it! Gives me sooo many ideas! Do you make your own laundry soap? I've never seen powdered soap for a front loader but maybe I just never looked hard enough, but the canisters you put them in are so perfect! =)
You have the laundry I dream of..mine is at thebottom of our basement stairs and shared ith our tenant-we rent out our basement...(sigh). Love th Ikea stuff too.
Holly, you and Sean (and Wren, of course) did such a fantastic job on this! The space is so open, light and fresh... I'm envious! :o)
Looks amazing! I'm in the middle of doing our laundry too
QUESTION -- exactly what legs did you get at IKEA?? I was trying to do the exact same thing with my washer/dryer, but all the legs I came across weren't tall enough (I know you found them in the discount bin, but do you know the name and how tall they extend?) I'm assuming it is the Galant top? I'd really LOVE to know which pieces you used as this is EXACTLY what I was trying to do.
THANKS bunches!
Wow, wow, wow! I'd love to come do your laundry for you in that room ;-).

I love doing laundry so if you need me to head over and do yours just let me know! I would camp out in that beautiful space. (just add a little tv and mini fridge and you're all set!)
Looks fantastic!
love love LOVE!!!
soooo itching to get out of our apartment and into a house so that we can "customize" our home too.
p.s. especially love the ribbon tying the cupboard shut ;)
Wow, oh wow!! I love every little detail! You all did an absolutly amazing job!! I wish so badly that my laundry room wasn't housed in our garage. I want cute laundry stuff! (would be a little lost in the mans world though!)
Hey Holly
We just did our laundry/mudroom in white with Behr's silver drop (a soft grey like yours) and also painted the pine board ceiling crisp white and I love it. You guys did a splendid job and I love the dresser in there, so unexpected. Nice work!
Sandra
It looks amazing. So beautiful. This would make doing laundry more fun. Where did you find your lights?
holy gorgeousness. I love the laundry detergent in the glass jar. lovely!!
So beautiful!!! Wow...it feels so clean and airy. Definitely my inspiration when we get a house!
Looks great! See a place like that just makes you want to do laundry...kind of! :)
Soo cute! Love it!
Wow! I wish I could just copy and paste your beautiful new laundry room into my own home. :)
Gorgeous!
Lovely. What kind of bead board did you use for the ceiling? Was it the sheets? The real paneled stuff that clicks together? How did you hide the seams if it was the sheets? I want to tackle some ugly ceilings in my house!
i love this. as usual, you have made something beautiful! this makes me want to make my laundry room special!
What a makeover! You guys did an amazing job!
I LOVE your laundry room. My very favorite is powder soap in glass jars. It's just so perfect. Great job. And that little girl just adds the perfect finishing touches.
this is so great!! I love it! I plan on doing a laundry room make over somewhat soon, but nothing this great. Thanks for sharing!
gorgeous! i love all the accessories you've incorporated. almost makes laundry look like fun! and the hooks wall with sideboard is simply stunning. well done!
BEAUTIFUL!! I loved seeing Wren in the before pics, too. :)
Okay...I'm totally inspired to tackle our laundry room. Love what you've done!
Love it! It's beautiful.
Looks amazing, so spacious and bright. Really elegant too, love the jars for the washing powers, look really nice, as they always come in horrible plastic or cardboard drums.
All things nice...
I love it!!! I really love the beadboard ceiling. We plan to put install it in our kitchen on our disgraceful ceiling lol. I was wondering how you installed your pot lights?? I think they bring such character to the room.
Thanks :)
AWESOME! Love the grey!
This is the best laundry room I have seen! But I am sorry to say... in the picture where you are coming from the garage to the new laundry room you missed a slightly large dust bunny... oh wait... its moving?
haha I'm kidding!! the little peanut and dog walking around are soo cute and add to the loveliness of the room!
Oh, wow ... just fabulous!!! Amazing transformation. I actually think I might enjoy doing laundry there!
AB FAB!
Can you tell us how you attached the beaded board to the ceiling? We've been tossing around the idea of doing this in our house but can't come up with a way to keep it attached. TIA!
Holly, The mudroom/laundry room looks amazing!! I wish we had a space like this! For now, we enter straight into the hall from the garage and the laundry room is an unfinished corner of our garage! Love that you got rid of the closet for something more user friendly. I'm sure it will inspire everyone to be more tidy as well, since they can't hide things in the closet and shut the door! Great job.
Like others on here, I wanted to ask another question about the ceiling :) I have popcorn/spackled ceilings in my home and want to cover them with beadboard as well. Did you have to take down the spackling before putting the beadboard up? Thanks!
OH MY GOSH. I wanna go do laundry like right now. You did an amazing job and I am blown away :) Way to go!! xo
this looks amazing! Great job! I love the jars with the laundry soap It's so nice to have a clean, white laundry room with little accents.
Holly, Your laundry room really is lovely, I love the black hooks and the way you have displayed them. Really beautiful!!!
This room might actually make me want to do laundry. Whoa!
Beautiful job, I too tackled the laundry room last fall, and I love going in there now, so it was all worth it!
WOW! What a beautiful laundry space. I could spend days in there;)
Where did you buy the tall cabinets? They are awesome and I bet they hold tons of storage!
~ Ali
The tall cabinet came from Ikea Ali!
Thanks again everyone!!!
GORGEOUS!!! Just amazing. I love it! You must be THRILLED to do laundry now. Well, as thrilled as one can be doing laundry! Such a calming and beautiful place! I'd sit in there and have a cup of tea it is so wonderful!!!!
Can you tell me where t find Pratt and Lambert paint? I live in East TN and I've never heard of that brand. I Love your laundry room. It has inspired me to paint my kitchen gray and maybe paint my cabinets a fresh white and black countertops.
Love Love Love the laundry room!
Love it! Such a good job!! I'm featuring your reno on my blog this week. :) little-inspirations.blogspot.com. It's such an inspiration!!
I am loving the beadboard ceiling! Nice work :-)
Wow! Just beautiful and so clean appealing!
Love! Can u use powdervfor front loaders?
Great laundry room!! :)
Noit a fan of grey or dryers (drying on air is more eco friendly:) but this looks absolutely awesome!!
Just a question: where do you keep the shoes now? :)
beautiful! would you mind sharing the type of tile you used on the floor? we are currently looking for something for the master bathroom and this is just lovely.
thanks!
Looks fantastic!! Nothing like a clean look for a laundry room.
I really, really like this. It's the most inviting laundry room I've seen. HOWEVER, I have one question. Where do you store your dirty laundry? Do you have any ideas for laundry bins?
This look fantastic. My only question is, where do you store the DIRTY laundry? Any ideas for laundry bins on the cheap?
Hi Holly,
I am in the middle of a laundry room remodel here and yours is a great inspiration for me! I was wondering how tall your counter is and if you used anything to brace it underneath or if it just sits on the legs. Also, do you like having the wood for a counter top? I was also thinking of going with corian but it is literally 10 times the cost.
Thanks!
Heidi
This is very beautiful! I was looking for a gray paint for my bedroom and came upon your blog post. Love the difference the pot lights make in your laundry room and the pretty buffet and hooks really add a lot of charm as well! One of my favorite things about your room though is the cute glass jars with soap! How clever!
Danielle
Hi -- this looks amazing. I did not see where you answered some of the questions. Hoping you can email me. I am making a trip to IKEA in a few weeks. I love the cabinet and table for washer/dryer. Which Cabinet did you get? what about the legs? Do they extend?
Thanks so much.
Hi! I love your laundry room! Very nice! I am looking to do something similar over my washer and dryer. Where did you get the legs from? Did you have to screw them on the counter-top? Or did you purchase it like that?
