Style Me Pretty

A couple months ago I had the absolute pleasure to spend the day with the lovely Jacqueline Elizabeth (seriously, this girl is the coolest). She snapped some shots for the girls over at Style Me Pretty Living and today they are sharing them in their Behind The Blog feature!
You can check out the whole thing here.

Like, Jacqueline nailed it in a major way.

Thanks Style Me Pretty and Jacqueline Elizabeth for showing me so much love!

The lights at Laurier Heights

I always find it fun to set the tone for the project as I gather my thoughts. As I mentioned previously, I want to go for a warm, natural take on modern style. Here are the lighting purchases that are currently en route to us for the various zones on the main floor (living room: sconces, Dining room: basket woven white pendant, Kitchen: various pendants for over the island and sink).

All lighting came from CB2, with the exception of the grey and glass pendant which came from Crate & Barrel. Their shipping is super reasonable to Canada when you call and order so it was an easy decision on my end! Can't wait to show you more of our ideas and plans

Welcome to Our Laurier Heights Flip!

image

Yes, I have been neglecting my little corner of the internet pretty bad lately. But it's not because I am frolicking on a beach somewhere for the Summer. It's because we are about to dive into our next flip project: Laurier Heights!

Actually, we are about to dive into our Laurier Heights flip AND begin work on a duplex we will be building from the ground up in our first ever new build. This all came to pass within in the last 10 days which has made life pretty hectic and exciting!

But today let's talk about the Laurier Heights project which will start this coming Monday! It is in one of the best neighbourhoods here in Edmonton, and it is a great house. Just really, really dated. And you can hardly see it behind all those over grown trees so we have a lot of outdoor work to do as well.

When you come in there is a nice little foyer and a couple staircases since it is a 4 level split.

A door to the kitchen off the foyer, as well as entry to the living room.

We are aiming to make this a modern/cool nod to mid-century modern with a natural twist. I totally understand if that means nothing to anyone else LOL.

The kitchen is where we are spending a good chunk of our budget, as we will be opening up all the walls on the main floor here to give a much more airy vibe.

Upstairs in the master bedroom we will be spending the other majority of effort (though hopefully not as much money) in opening up the 4th bedroom into the master to make for one sweet suite...

And a MUCH nicer/bigger ensuite. Because a sink and a toilet just don't cut it nowadays. That funky door in the master is to a roof deck, but I think it will be coming out and potentially re-installed in the second bedroom (although I am not convinced, despite protests from my trades and Sean).

I will share a few more before shots of the fifth bedroom, laundry room, family room and 2 other bath rooms as soon as I have the keys this monday, as well as all our exciting plans for the exterior!

Hope your Summer has been warm, happy and fun!

Local Handmade Finds

IMG_8442

I LOVE supporting wonderful Canadian based businesses, specially small ones and so I was thrilled to discover Linnden and her beautiful wraps for little girls at Urban-Cowgirl.

Too many cute patterns and designs to choose from, but you can never go wrong with black and white!

My friend, Kristi, also has an adorable Etsy shop (check it out here) and I commissioned her to make a super cute teepee for Wren to hang out in the yard and take to the park with us. We have also carted it to the splash park and I can't tell you how many kids wanted to play in it and how many moms asked about it. I picked up the fabric at Ikea (again with the black and white LOL) and Kristi even added the little pompoms up at the top to make it a little more whimsical! Wren adores it to no end.

Cabin, Near Completion!

We are about a week and a half away from when the movers will be bringing all our finds into the new cabin!

We made a quick trip down (it's about 2 hour away) and checked up on the progress about 10 days ago and while we now have counters, finished floors and everything close to being done, things were still not quite as finished when we were there. But I snapped some iPhone pics to share here and you can take a look at what the progress has been since our last update.
