Can you believe it is Monday again already? Where is August going???
Lately I have been getting a lot of emails from readers who have tried to find a product I list in the FAQ section called Killz Primer. I am not sure if this is a canadian product, but it is carried by Home Depot here in Canada so I am guessing it should be available (maybe under a different name?) in the states.
If you don't recognize the brand, maybe you will recognize the can on your next trip to the home improvement store (photo from my upcoming e-book).
And now I want to introduce you all to our new dining room table, Calypso. She was in the midst of an identity crisis so I thought a name might help give her some direction.
Here I am lovingly caressing Calypso's new "driftwood" top (photo also from the book, which will include instructions).
And yes, my hands really look like that when I am out working! I use gloves occasionally but I really prefer to get my hands dirty. I heard about a product called liquid gloves recently that I think I will try out soon though.

Your Fresh Coat Fridays have inspired me and given me the (crazy) confidence to think that I might be able to pull off a transformation of my own. Any tips/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated:

Thanks in advance, and wish me luck!
I think Kilz is available all over the U.S. I buy it in Texas all the time and my dad's used it as long as I can remember. :)
She looks lovely...cant wait to see!
Killz is available in the states under the same name. I know you can get it at Home Depot and I think Lowe's carries it too.
Looks pretty -
Yep I've used Kilz primer - but now I mostly use Zisser primer
I can also vouch for Kilz being sold in Texas. I've even bought it in the spray can like you showed.
We've got Kilz in KY too! love those minty green legs!
Kilz is in Texas 2 & has been for years. Love the stuff!!!
Kilz here in Ohio as well. I have found that the cheap off brand spray primer works just as well for little objects like picture frames. Gotta save where you can!
I still have white paint on my hands from a weekend project, for some reason it just won't come off! It makes me feel good to see it though, feels like I accomplished something.
Holly! i have an almost identical table sitting in my garage waiting to be finished. it's been cleaned, sanded and is ready to be primed but hubby and i couldnt' decide what to do with the top. paint it white? sand it down and stain it dark? um, that was before i knew i could make the top look like driftwood. when oh when will this book be available so i can finish my table using your lovely technique??? :)
Hi Holly! Here is a direct link to the Kilz Aerosol Primer sold at Home Depot in the US:

Kilz is readily available-walmart even carries it in "regular" and "no-smell". the latter is about .50c more per can.

Love the "in progress" photos! Can't wait to see it finished.
We've got Kilz here in Washington State, too. Love the stuff. And loving the new table, can't wait to see it done!
I've used Kilz primer all the time. It's the best stuff! They also make an "oderless" one too. Though I still think it smells! :o)
Cute table! I love your blog! I have seen Kilz in almost every home improvement store I frequent but here is a link from the Kilz website as to stores that stock their products.

I made over this exact same table(except coffee table version) over at my blog!
they have all kilz products in arkansas. at walmart, home depot, lowe's and ace hardware. in both spray paint variety and regular wall paint.
those are some fine looking legs... love that colour!!
Love this colour! Very beachy - perhaps Colin and Justin have inspired a new you! I cannot wait to see it in your space!
I didn't buy the spray....I bought a gallon, hope it works. Yes Calypso has great legs even though I have an affinity for French legs...lol
Love Kilz. It's available everywhere in the US. Even Walmart lol! Can't wait to see the finished table!
You can get Killz in Washington State! I'm not sure about anywhere else, though.
Loving the beachy stuff lately!
Killz in the spray can is what we use...
LOVE the sneak peeks! Can't wait to see the whole table. I have no doubt it will be stunning- you are a furniture wonder woman!
You can get KILZ in Southern California too. Suprisingly they haven't outlawed it (like everything else)...YET!
I absolutely love being inspired to paint furniture. I have painted many pieces in the past and it's been awhile since I've painted. Watching you has inspired me to get back into a really fun hobby! Thanks for the all the info!
Hey Holly! Its call Kilz here too!
I have the same table and she got a new look a few months ago, but will get another new look when I have room in my studio (garage HAHA)
Love
HOLLY
I am a "lurker" that has come out of the closet to comment on your table. Coincidentally, I have purchased not one, but two of these little beauties in the last couple of weeks. I have redone both for my craftroom...I chose to go black legs with a red chestnut finish on top. I love mine...but yours is gorgeous too! So fun to see how people change the look of the same item!
holly~
i am having a hard time finding the Verathane you talk about in the FAQ's. Would you consider showing a pic of what that can looks like too? i just gave a beautiful light grey desk an amber tint with poly that said it was clear. yikes!
your work is fantastic~ thanks so much for sharing!
