My latest obsession.

I know I've briefly mentioned my obsession with Starbucks' peppermint hot chocolate and latte. In general I'm pretty wild about heated beverages... but on a cold Canadian morning I am NOT loading Wren up in the car to grab a fix!

So my Mom and Dad did me a huge service by putting not only a Keurig under the tree...

but also a Nespresso milk frother. It sounds a little crazy, right? Who really needs frothed milk that often??? ME!! I use the thing constantly, actually more than the Keurig. The reason this thing rocks my world is that it not only froths the milk, but it HEATS IT!! Yup, your hot coffee doesn't have to turn lukewarm when you add cream or milk any more. Or you can make a rich, bubbly hot chocolate without ever bringing out a kettle or pot.

In short, I am attached at the hip with this gizmo. And I usually hate gizmos.

So now I brew a "teacup" size of coffee on the Keurig

Then also froth up a small batch of Peppermint hot chocolate, combine the two and VOILA! I have a homemade beverage worthy of a cold drive to Starbucks. And today it is COLD, so I am extra grateful to stay in my jammies a little longer.

Now that I am an at home Barrista I can't wait to try more K-cups. Any other recommendations by all you Keurig users? I just bought a pack of the French vanilla biscotti flavor from folgers but I am wanting to try more so let me know your picks.

YUMMY! I received a Tassimo from Santa, too! Now, I need to treat myself to a new milk warmer, frother, thingy! Yes, our Canadian winter's make Starbuck's runs a little tough at times. Hugs, Lisa

Love that ! Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts makes K cups that are really good.

My absolute favourite K cup is Winter Carnival from Timothys -- I love the sweetness and fragrance of it with a bit of sugar and cream. Another even sweeter one is Belgian Chocolate Cake, also from Timothys. Winter Carnival tends to be seasonal, and I usually only find it in winter (so I stock up so I can drink it year round). I'm in Toronto.... so I know about not wanting to get in the car in the winter to get a warm drink!

Great suggestions!! I am definitely checking out belgian chocolate cake!!! I have a major sweet tooth so the sweeter the better.

Do you guys order yours online or buy them instore? I found the grocery store had lots of types of basic coffee, but nothing cool like Starbucks or chocolate cake.

YUM! Where did they buy the Nespresso?

i also got a Keurig brewer for Christmas!

P.S. if you register your brewer on their website.. they will give you two free boxes of k-cups of your choice (of course you have to purchase two boxes)... but what a deal! totally made my day!

I usually buy them in store. For the flavours that I mentioned, I have to buy them directly from Timothy's. On occasion, I have found some good Timothy's flavours at stores like Home Outfitters or Bed Bath & Beyond.

As for your sweet tooth, Timothy's also has a great sweet flavour called Cinnamon Pastry.

After reading your post, I made a cup of Winter Carnival... which I'm enjoying right now!

(BTW I have read your blog forever and I haven't unlurked... I'm Samantha, a mom of one year old twin girls living in a suburb of Toronto. I blog about mommy stuff at cherrypietwins.blogspot.com)

Hi Holly!
I also live in Edmonton and there is a FABULOUS little store in the west end that sells every flavor of K cup! Awesome!
It's called Your One Cup Solution, it's on 178th in the same lot as Creative Packaging.
I am addicted, seriously!
Enjoy!

Sorry to be debby downer on this one...... but we had bought a Keurig, before we researched it, and once we did we found out that it's not environmentally friendly. The k cups are non recyclable (3 billion are used in one year), and the plastic cups contain BPA which is a chemical that leaks into your drink. So in the end we ending up returning it, even though we loved the convenience and the idea of it. Although it wasn't for us, others might not be so environmentally conscience and so for them it works.

We love our Keurig too! I like the donut shop coffees and Newman's own as well. Our Costco sells both, but Bed, Bath and Beyond is a great place to get k cups as well. In response to the poster who commented on it not being environmentally friendly, you can purchase a "my k cup" reusable filter to use with your own favorite ground coffee if you are concerned about "filling up the landfills"... ;)

I have and love that as well....but, now you need the Nespresso Citiz. Instead of adding the coffee (Keurig) you will just add the shot of espresso. I LOVE mine. I use it every single day:)

oops...not sure if my other comment was published. Sorry if this is a repeat. I was just saying that I also have the Nespresso milk frother...and love it. But, instead of the Keurig I have the Nespresso Citiz. It is amazing and I use it every day. Instead of adding a cup of coffee to your frothed milk you will add a shot of espresso. My mom and mother in law both purchased it after visiting my house. It is the best! Happy New Year:)

I just got a Keurig for Christmas too and have enjoyed seeing what flavors others recommend. The newer Keurigs all have BPA free parts that come in contact with the water. I also don't like the idea of having to dispose of a lot of little plastic containers, but was happy to see you can get a reusable filter to put your own coffee grounds into. I'll be getting one of those soon so I can use my own grounds and then compost them. I think I'll save the little plastic cartons for guests. Enjoy your warm drinks!

Is it sad that you've made my day?!! I have a Bialetti for making espresso, but have been heating up milk in a POT to mix with it... I'm very excited to find me one of your milk frothers!! ;)

We also just got a Keurig for xmas, so I have also been on the hunt for k-cups. So far, my favorite is Timothies Raspberry Chocolate coffee...omg, so good! I'm in Ontario and found it at Metro (if you have that grocery chain in Alberta). We also received the reusable filter basket which is great for the environment and for economics. Just put your own coffee in and it brews through the Keurig - genius! We are actually going to buy a 2nd one since we love the reusable basket so much.

Found this post from Centsational Girl's post about writer's block... and I have to say, this invention sounds genius! I'm adding this milk frother to my Amazon wish list asap. I spend so much money at Starbucks on hot drinks because I'm just too lazy to make them at home. We already have a Keurig, so now all I need is this frother ;)
