Summer Days

I am sure almost everyone can relate, but it has been HOT. REALLY HOT. We don't have air conditioning at our house, and instead of spending boats loads of money by leaving the freezer door open all day we decided to take a mini road trip out to our cabin.

{ what I call refreshing }

It is always so relaxing there because we have no distractions. There isn't cable, there isn't wi-fi. We only have each other and the simpler things in life to keep us entertained.

{ no matter how hot, we always have a fire going for impromptu marshmallow cook offs }

It is a wonderful place to be a 3 year old.

It's also a wonderful place to be a grown up. Give me a cozy blanket, some good shade and a book by the water and I won't budge all day.

It's a treat to see the neighbor's horses who usually retreat into the forest in search of shade. I think they were happy to have a new friend in Wren though.

There are tons of 'treasures' for girls like Wren and I.

Wren loves to jump off the deck, her Daddy prefers to jump in the water (specially when it involves dragging me in as well).

It is still as hot as the sun back here at home, but it seems bearable now that we've all had a little time to recharge and wind down from the craziness of life.

I think we will be regular staples at the pool this week!! How are you beating the heat?

Ahh....enjoy these years while she is young. Once they hit their teens, going anywhere that they cannot get WiFi is a disaster!!!! lol Believe me, with good intentions I have tried it more than once. Teenagers, ugg. lol

The good news is they love to travel to awesome places and see history, art and culture...but only if they can access the Internet at night!!! Which I don't mind quite frankly because I am chillin' getting ready for the next day.

Enjoy your lazy, hazy days ...priceless and fleeting for sure.

Oh delightful. I wish we had a cottage. Someday...!

We have no A/C either and the last two weeks have been brutal. I'm grateful that the past few days have been much cooler, but we still need rain!

What a great escape! I just love all of your pictures and they make me want to escape to the coast again! I love the picture of you holding Wren and the one with Wren & the horse!

How fun! I love that pic of you and wren. We get to go to a Mt. house every now and then, living here in the south it's pretty darn hot.

This blog just went from normal house-wife blogger ridiculous to insane ridiculous. Can't even read it anymore. Ashamed I didn't notice until the house-flipping started.

Lesley, I am soooo grateful for what an easy going girl she is, specially at this age. But I can see when not having to entertain them at night will be a lovely thing! Thanks for sharing.

Kathleen, I think our temps have been balmy but they're nothing compared to you guys! Keep it cool girl!

LOL Kelly, I have no idea what that even means! I think I take offense to the term House-wife blogger though... I think. Or not. Thanks for saying hi.

These photos are beautiful and what great memories you are making with your family. My mother-in-law, myself and my daughter go "glamping" at Lake Michigan all summer along and it's a great way for girl time, unplugging and not worrying about what needs to get done!

It looks so nice there!

Sadly, no matter the cost, keeping the freezer door open won't cool your house at all (unless the back of the freezer is sticking out the door). - another person without a/c in way to hot Alberta.

Your pictures are so very beautiful. Good luck staying cool this summer!

Laurie, that is such a great idea! Glamping!!! We are FARrrrr from glamping at our cottage, it was my great grandparents' and even almost all the furniture is original, so it is just above tent-style camping in my book LOL

Sara, so glad I'm not the only Edmontonian whining about heat. It is hard to believe we spent all winter waiting for this LOL.

Wren doesnt look like a baby anymore. Somewhere in between posts she became a big girl!

This sounds like a scene straight out of a movie or a fairytale. A perfect day! Love it!

Oh, your sweet little girl is looking more like a little girl and less like a baby girl. Enjoy.

I really like your blog and all your designs.
