Cottage Cabinet

Photobucket

Just thought I would share our latest transformation. It is an antique, handmade cabinet that is a really unusual size compared to today's modern furniture.
Photobucket

It was a little plain so Sean jazzed it up with some wood appliques which we painted grey, along with the back panel. I LOVE the way the plates pop off that dark grey!

The beautiful, wide glass door would perfectly display everything from plates to books to a collection of old cameras.

And I PROMISE that this is the last item that Sean forgot to take 'before' shots of, so the next round of transformations have documented proof of their hideousness.

I love the cabinet! The gray is awesome. You make me want to go drive around and find old furniture I can paint and spruce up!

Also - where did you get those urns? I love 'em!

How do you paint with the glass doors? Do you do that area by hand or do your tape/cover the glass?

Hello Holly! I have bookmarked your blog and I read it everyday!!! I just noticed that you have nothing in the about us section :( How come? You have a beautiful family and Wren is so cute! My daughter just turned 13 and I remember those days, 2-3 was my favorite age. They are so cute becoming little human beings with their own personality. I love your furniture, your blog, and your style. You inspired me to buy a white comforter for my bedroom. Even with two Chihuahua's who love to sleep under the covers, I don't stress, I just strip the bed and use a little bleach :) I love it, so serene and inviting. I always think my bed looks so comfy and now I can't wait to go to sleep! Thanks for the inspiration!!! p.s. you should put out your cake pans for V-day. That was a great project and I think they would look fabulous for the Holiday!

Hey Jenn!

We're working on it! It seems to be a bigger job of rounding us all up for a photo than we anticipated LOL. Glad you are loving your heavenly bed!

Nicole Marie, We typically do a little handiwork and remove all the glass/and or mirrors before painting. This can be a bigger job than painting sometimes but it worth it to have clean, crisp lines.

Holly - this is beautiful! Would you mind sharing which color gray (brand as well) you used to paint the cabinet accents?

I love this Holly! Where do you find wooden appliques? I'm in Texas and have my Grandmother's not so old and very plain china cabinet to repaint and would love to jazz it up with these.

Fyi, I love your blog and always read it. Your haircut looks awesome...if only my natural curls would sit down for that length I'd be all over shorter hair.
