Today my Grandpa took me out to hunt for treasures! The first treasure I saw upon entering the driveway of his neighbor who was hooking me up today was this old carosel. I would love to use one of the horses in Wren's room, but sadly it is not for sale....
My sister's favorite treasure? This old ice cream truck. She insists she is buying this, and hey I think it would please the masses to bring back mister (or mrs.?) softee.

Off to investigate further...

My biggest find of the day was this desk/table. I have to send out my moving team (aka Sean) to bring it home this week. In the meantime we will get acquainted in my dreams.
I also wanted to bring home some of those TNT boxes under it, but I have no idea where they would go so I decided to leave them for now.

I don't think I have come across anything like it before. And you know I love stuff you don't see everyday.

Besides my beloved new desk, these little trinkets also found some room in the trunk. I love me some galvanized metal crates and buckets (I have plans for the big one in the family room!).
Two rolls of this crazy wall paper had my mind racing with ideas: back of a book case? feature wall in my soon-to-be office remodel? I have no idea yet, but I love the colors (they feel really Urban Outfitters/Anthro to me) and at $1 a roll I will find something to do with them.
Some old books (The Mysteries of Paris really has me intriqued...)

And you already know me so well. No surprises that these blue glass electricity poll covers found their way home with me. Totally random, but they will look beautiful all lined up on a shelf or the mantle.

But I still have to clean some of these goodies up, so off I go to beautify them ever so slightly!

Love it all! How lucky are you?

My grandfather is like the collector of all collectors. He has *amazing*, amazing loot. In their study, they've had those glass covers for years, all lined up on the built in shelving. SO pretty. Lots of different colors, but lots of turquoise.

♥♥♥

I boughts *tons** of goodies today, and I'm currently overwhelmed cleaning it all up, and trying to organize. So, I ditched it all for now & I'm watching CSI with my hubby. :)

Ooohh...places like that are the BEST! You just never know what you will find!

Loving the wallpaper...very Urban Outfitters, and the blue glass insulators will look awesome in a grouping! And the galvanized buckets...GASP...if you have been reading my posts at all you know I am INSANE over everything galvanized!

And oh my gosh...how could I forget that desk? LOVE it! It would be fabulous in a light gray or a pale bluey-greeny color. Can't wait to see it finished!

You really should go get those TNT boxes. You might not ever see them again! they are really neat, if not just for the words TNT.

And I adore the electricity poll cover things. I have three of them myself. They give me a feeling of nostalgia. I am from Holland and an American friend gave my mom one year ago which sat on our window sill for a long time when I was little.
Now, I'm obsessed with teal and old and quirky stuff, so when I saw the set of three at Value Village,I snatched them up. I put them on my window sill where they catch the light beautifully, or use them in little displays elsewhere.

My husband wanted me to use something "manly" in a decorating project so I painted an ammo box black and added some numbers on it. You should check it out. www.4sweetpeasinapod.blogspot.com
That'll teach him huh?

Those green/blue glass items are really very decorative, beautiful! Our little son will have such a metal (military) box as a ´night-table´ in his future room.

I'm curious...why would that carousel be sitting out there like that...obviously being neglected, and NOT be for sale????

I had to come post that my husband is also obsessed with those glass electric pole insulators. I came home once to find one and I had no idea what it is. He said he saw one online and had to have it. We will have to keep our eyes open this summer for more and other treasures! Your blog really is inspiring.

I can't wait to see what you do with the insulators. i have a handful of clear blue and white as well from my Pappy and they have just been languishing in the basement. We have a similiar brass container with lid to the galvanized in your post and we have it near our fireplace collecting kindling, also a treasure from my Pappy!

That desk/table is magical!! I love me some blue caps...even though they're so weird. They are beautiful as display...I have some on my bedside table. Cannot wait to see how that desk turns out! Oh, I found me a chair that reminds me of your dining chair and I hope you don't mind, but it inspired me! (plus I'm obsessed with white and grey) have a nice night-shaunna :)
