For the last couple of days we have been battling colds and flus here. I have not left the house in over 2 days and today I was itching to do something productive (besides gathering the piles of used kleenexs around the house...). I decided on a quick, fairly clean project that I have had on a back burner for a while now. Painting the legs of some of the living room furniture.

Here is a picture of one of the chairs pre-painting. The pictures never really pick it up, but these chairs came from a therapists waiting room so I am sure you can imagine the amount of rubber sole scuffs on the legs.

I used a really subtle dove grey on all the chairs and sofa so that something ties them all together. This really helps the room feel a lot more cohesive since the fabric on the chairs is quite a bit lighter than the creamy colored cover on the sofas.

A lot of you have been emailing me about the branchs again, so here is a better shot of how many we have and how they are spaced. For full info check out the DIY archives~

And here was the sofa pre-paint.

Excuse all the mess in the background!! Everytime a piece of furniture leaves I usually pile all it's contents up on the dining room table until I have time to return them to my basement store-rooms.

I think this week I will hunt down some really nice new down-filled pillows for the sofa. I didn't realize how few throw pillows we had laying around until I opened the closet and saw I only have covers, no pillows!

How are your weekend projects coming?

Holly, the legs look great! There are several easy projects that I have put off for awhile because I have so many!
This weekend (and the first part of next week)we are installing tile in our master bath - taking out the ugly vinyl flooring we have lived with for so long! The tear out was done today!

That came out beautifully! Oh and feel better!! I can't get away with doing that, as I'd have paint splattered somewhere lol. My project literally right now is fixing some pseudo curtains I use to hide my computer cables under the desk :)

Have a great weekend!

they look wonderful! I am sure you here this a lot...but I truly love your blog. Even in the world of decorating with whites there are many ways to do so...I relate to your home the most and love seeing all of your work! Oh, if we were only closer I'd be giving you some good business. I will say though, I have been doing some refinishing for others myself...it is so gratifying! Thank you for the inspiration! (By the way, I'm refinishing some red doors with tons of detailed grooves and wouldn't mind your opinion on getting the grooves distressed...seriously. If you have the time, I'd love it if you'd check them out! They're under the post "look what I found". First time I tried to distress through the paint, it bled red even though I didn't get that far down....so now I've primed them with TWO coats of high hiding?? Praying that works...again, LOVE the legs painted!

I'm laughing at your fliers- that's what my fliers are used for too. Thank you, Zellers.
The new painted couch legs look great, and I need to comment on the fabulous easel in the back because it's SO lovely.
Have a great day.

Wow I love the legs! I was secretly hoping you would be also painting the legs to the chairs when you mentioned the love seat-I was really excited when I noticed you did. Looks great-as ALWAYS!!! Hope you all get well soon.

pottery barn has great down filled pillow inserts, and not crazy expensive.

You've probably answered this already, but what kind of fabric did you use for the slipcovers? They look fabulous!

OOhhhh if only chairs could talk....I wonder what therapy stories they would tell. Hmmmmm. They sure look cute now! (my husband would have a nervous breakdown if he saw me painting in the house, maybe it's my history of spilling cans on the carpet.)
