cabin life

image

I haven't had a chance to bring out the big camera, but I've been snapping a few phone pics of the cabin as we've been slowly unpacking and cleaning up. Things are still on the go (like the landscaping and a couple odds and ends inside) but we have been waiting so long to enjoy it that we are willing to put up with pretty much anything LOL.

Wren has been the most excited. She has decided to take up fishing and even has her own pink fishing pole!

After a 2 hour drive she is still all smiles.

Inside, art is getting hung as we go... the bathing beauties from Gray Malin are now hung, but as of this shot they were patiently waiting for their place of glory.

The bathrooms are my favourite! My mom picked such a great quartz that I can hardly tell it's not real marble!

Finger photo bomb! The great room is where we spend the most time so we wanted lots and lots of seating. The mantle on the fireplace is probably my single favourite thing in the house because it is one of the old support beams from the last cabin.

This room belongs to Sean and I. It has a little bit more of a minimalist vibe compared to the rest of the cabin, but we like it so we can clear our thoughts while we're here.

And of course, there's the kitchen. The butcher blog island is now in place since this shot and it is the perfect warm touch to the space.

And why do we come out to the cabin? To enjoy the lake! My Mom did an amazing job getting this space perfect for just lounging around and taking in the scenery.

I promise to bring out the big camera in the next couple weeks and show you all the other areas that are screaming for me to share them!!

But until then, enjoy these lovely Summer days.

I have been stealth-following your blog for a while now. I'm coming out of the shadows to say how much I enjoy your posts. I also love spotting all the items from our good Canadian stores like your Urban Barn bedroom lamps and the Superstore bistro set in this post. It makes me happy to know we have easy, affordable access to such great finds. I'm sure your Wren will love fishing. Both of my kids do.

Aww thanks Audrey! Yes, everything on the deck came from Superstore! And the urban barn lamps are my new favorite things... They have awesome stuff and we actually got a good amount of stuff there like the coffee table and all the end tables/consoles and other beds in the house. Oh and the bar stool!

UB also has great sales if you can wait it out. Right now all their sale accents are another 50% off so those lamps would be $25 (I may have bought one the other day). They have some gorgeous throws clearing out now too.

What a gorgeous place to relax and enjoy family! PS- I also love your mom's quartz choice. Would she mind sharing the details? It really looks fantastic!

Wow, Holly! I think you win the award for most amazing and exciting summer ever! You go girl! So excited for you and so glad you are taking us along for the ride with you.

It's interesting what you said about blogs and blogging and its fate. I think it depends on why people blog in the first place. I know for myself, I do it for me and for my family and friends so that they can take part in my little family's life. My favourite blogs are ones that are real, honest and not full of sponsored posts. I love instagram and I think it's an amazing place and allows bloggers (and non bloggers) the chance to share bits of their daily life so that people don't feel the need to churn out daily posts. Also, as a blogger and a blog reader, I don't have time to read blogs every day so I prefer posts here and there and then keeping up with everyone via instagram! So, the two really go hand in hand. Blog posts are nice because we get the "bigger picture". :)

P.S. LOVE that armoire in your parents bedroom, it's gorgeous!
