For some reason the idea to paint our old canopy bed struck me out of no-where about two weeks ago. Sean is not 100% convinced, but I can tell he is swaying in my favor ;)

The bed was actually our first large purchase together right after highschool, even though by today's standards I would hardly call it a large purchase (In highschool I worked at Bombay Co. so I had a pretty awesome discount, and to top it off it was already 60% off as a former floor model). It has been banished to the guest room since I made the DIY headboard in our master bedroom last February. But I think I would be more inspired to:
a) decorate the guest room already!
b) consider bringing it back into the master.
If I get to bring it down into my paint studio!

If these white canopy beds don't convince Sean and draw some major inspiration then I have no idea what will~

And my ULTIMATE fav:

Well I am glad he is swinging in your favor, because painting it would be a FaBuLoUs idea! =)

You have my vote to paint it.. =)

Go for it, Holly! You know your projects always turn out, and once he sees your awesomeness with this bed, he'll forget he ever had second thoughts. Be sure to share pictures of the after! ;)

Oh my gosh! My husband and I scored a major deal on the same Bombay bed four years ago and I've been wanting to do the same thing! I was just telling my mom earlier this week and she thinks I'm crazy (loves the dark wood LOL). I can't wait to see what you do and those inspiration pics are awesome; they may even sway my hubby. Fingers crossed.

What the hell are you doing to me? You are making me rethink every design decision I have made here in my mountain home! Ughh and HOOray at the same time. That last bed is amazing, spectacular, fabulous and totally doable by your cute little self. I love the jewel tones, I gravitate to them no matter how I resist. But all of this white is so tantalizing. Love your work! Love your drive, love your finds.

That bed just seems to heavy compared to all of your other furniture! It would look fantastic painted.

I can't believe that after all the awesome things you've done that it is even being considered! You are WAY too talented, there is no way that bed looks better now than it will when you are finished putting your signature style into it. Go for it!

I Love all of the inspiration pictures ... looks like you have a challenge ahead of yourself ... can't wait to see pictures once your done!

First of all, the canopy bed you have has much more beautiful detailing than any of the (otherwise gorgeous) inspiration beds you posted. Those lines, painted white, and distressed by none other than the fabulous talents of, well, you... perfection. And, as obsessed as I am with your DIY headboard (I intend to make one for our guest room), I think that canopy bed may just be the drama you were looking for in your master with the charcoal wall you ended up not absolutely loving. I'm sure your pretty little self can convince your sweet hubby. In which case, I canNOT WAIT to see that bed made over!

I was skeptical for a second (mostly because I recall you having some fantastically cute new-family photos [w/ the jeans & Ts]all cozy in the white bedding of that big dark bed [which made me really want a bed like that], and looked really great in some of those shots from your last home with Wren's DREAM glitter glass over-head)... but that 3rd white inspiration photo down gave me just the right view of how pretty and cozy it could look painted. So all I'd say is, Do what makes you Happy! And good luck :)

Ooh, a 2nd thought...I don't remember if you already have a big-girl bed lined up for Wren, but if not, and you bring back this beauty to your Master, you could so give Wren that amazingly glam (and soft for baby's head) white headboard you made! Then it won't have been for naught :) I can't think of a better use for it.

I love your blog and love all of your posts! I get such fabulous inspiring ideas from you....I love the headboard you made...but I LOVE all of the canopy bed pics you have posted. I know this is a crazy idea, but could you combine the two ideas and somehow attach the headboard to the painted white canopy bed? I love both looks I would hate for you to have to choose one or the other....it might not work but it is a thought.

Oh my gosh, Holly! Your ultimate fav...is mine too! Love the contrast of the simple modern lines with the rustic paint job. And the chandelier tops it off. Just drag that baby down there and get painting! Sean will love it when it is done! ;o) ~mary~
