A quick kitchen set paint job

A pedestal table and four chairs popped up on my local craigslist last week and just from the pictures alone I knew that it was the perfect set. It was in great condition, had all 4 chairs, basically just needed a new coat of paint, and obviously the price was right.

Working outside at 8:30pm to get it done before night fall!
Fast, easy and cheap! Sounds good to me~

I debated on whether or not to even distress this set, but the unanimous feedback from the family was DO IT! That is what makes my pieces a little unique, right? But I still went easy and just did a minimal amount.

A QUICK NOTE:
Thank you SOOO much to everyone for all the wonderful comments and questions! It is actually overwhelming how many emails I get everyday. This week alone I have already responded to over 100. So please be patient, I promise I will get back to everyone. If you have a question in particular about anything I appreciate you asking in the comments section, but it is easier for me to keep track of what I have or haven't answered if you ask me in an email.
Now we are off to the cabin for the weekend to enjoy a HUGE family reunion! Have a great weekend everyone~

Love it! Do you always use a paint sprayer? I'm concerned about using one inside (painting kitchen cabinets) and thought I would ask you.

LOVE IT! I think your love of white has really rubbed off on me. I only wish our black dogs didn't shed like it's going out of style. Oh, I love pedestal tables like crazy too. I have two in our little house.

Thanks for the comment on the sideboard...I decided to keep it the dark stain. =) I love your blog, I've been following it for a few months.

Beautiful! Gosh, I wish I lived near you!! I love the distress look. Is there a trick to doing that or just fine sand paper and go to town where you want the distressing?

Fabulous as always

I agree with only the light distressing, esp since the dresser is more heavily. Do you varnish after the paint, and if so what do you use? Do you like a wipe on or a spray on more. Oh, and I hope you're wearing a mask with all of this painting and sanding you're doing- got to protect those lungs!
(I learned this first hand after spray painting without one all day and it definitely affected my breathing and made me feel sick later, so I learned the hard way!)

Hi there. Just found your blog and wanted to say hello. The table and chairs turned out beautiful. And how smart of you to use a spray gun instead of the old fashion way that takes forrreverrrr!! I'm off to look around some more. Have a great week!

martha said...

You are so inspiring! What type of spray gun do you recommend? What brand of paint? Do you sand first?
Thanks for the help!

Okay, I looooove your stuff! I would never think to buy that ugly looking brown table but you made it look beautiful! Yes, I am loving white because of you. And yes, if I lived near you I would be buying stuff from you left and right or taking a class from you to make stuff myself!!! I think we would all love a tutorial if you're up for it sometime :)

I've been reading your blog for a while now and love all that you do. We're moving soon into our first house and I'm already gathering ideas! (thanks for posting such beautiful makeovers).
And sorry to add to the email list. I totally know what you mean, I get many emails a week from my MADE site and though I love to respond to everyone it can be overwhelming at times. I just have a small question about your spray "can" in the picture there. Is that how you paint all your stuff? No paintbrushes involved? I'm getting ready to paint our beautiful old table (all white of course :)) and now that I see your picture....that might be the way to go! I assume you get one at Home Depot for not too much money?
Thank you! Please only respond if/when you can :)
