I didn't have time to snap a before shot of this chair, but it is the kind that most people have sitting in the basement or garage. A little dose of a new blue I am trying to perfect gives it that something special.
Previous owners had painted the legs and back cream but over the years it has started to chip off. I like the idea that this blue will start to chip along with it~
This table probably wouldn't elicit a second look from most people. The lovely detailing really fades into the wood grain and doesn't stand out.
I was dreaming of an image of a Swedish farmhouse I saw that day, which lent the inspiration for the grey-based cream that feels like it has been there forever.

perfection at it's finest!
Gorgeous! Love that shade of blue...and don't forget I tagged you for a Kreativ Blogger award. Check my last post... ~mary~
I adore that first side table!
Just love all your furniture re-dos! That blue is just YUMMY! Did you mix it yourself?
Loving the white table. As you said, it really has brought out the hidden detail. It seemed so plain when dark. What a delight to see its true form.
Your blog is inspiring. recently purchased a few items off ebay, hoping to make them over. Your blog has given me the impetus to do so.
Thanks,
Sandy (in Australia)
Love that shade of blue and all the pieces!
I love the way the little blue chair looks! That's exactly what my kitchen chairs - who still need to be painted - are like. Maybe one day I'll managed to get them done. You did a great job on that one!
DH, the kids & I are coming to your town the weekend of January 23rd. If you have time, would you like to get together for coffee or something? Just drop me an email and let me know!~
Take care - great projects! Jaime
Thank you so much everyone!!!
You are correct Kendall, the blue is a mixture I am playing with the last few days.
Jaime, I would love to meet up again~
I like your collection of blue books, very pretty.
I LOVE that shade of blue!
I just love the last piece. It reminds of me pieces that my mom used to have and she gave them away. I should have saved them! Ugh.
What adorable little pieces. And that blue, is indeed perfect. Blues are tricky, like gray (or any color when it somes to me for that matter) but man you mixed a good one.
Another question (you know I'm always full of questions), do ou paint in your garage or basement? If garage is the answer, do you heat it? I want so badly to tackle a project (or two) tomorrow and wondering if blocking off an area in the garage with tarps, and a space heater would do the trick so I don't have runny paint.
Hope you have a great weekend, and Sean's ribs heal in no time so he can get back to helping you move furniture. :)
wow you are such the transformer! You made them all gorgeous!
i saw your book at tj maxx today...soooo your style...the whole book.
Holly, I found your blog via Cote De Texas! I love it! You have such a talent. I do have a question for you though. I painted a few older pieces for a beach condo, and I have not done a varnish on top. Can you tell me what to buy? Do you just paint it right on top? Do you use a brush or roller to paint?
Thanks so much for your expertise,
Corey from NC
I love that shade of blue. Is it a custom mix or can you share the brand/name?
Love it all Holly! I hope your husband feels better soon!
Those tables totally inspire me to get out the paint and coat up the occasional tables I have sitting around that have been bugging me with their 70s dark woodishness. Do you have a specific post where you reveal your painting techniques?
Hi Corey, I use Verathane water based semi-gloss sealant. To get a really smooth finish I always use the spray cans (I don't want to gloop up my sprayer with it).
minnesotamom, I answer as many as I can under the FAQ section~
Thanks again everyone!
Ah so wonderful!

"a new blue I am trying to perfect"
...So, it does sound like you are, or have the ability to, create/design your own unique line of paint colors. Is this going to be your next big unveiling ;) I still think it was a really neat idea. But if you just enjoy doing it for yourself at home, we'll understand that too :)
I really love those fun little animal decorations, especially the rabbit. Are they candles, or wood sculptures or something? I'd love to know where one might find them.
And lastly, so sorry your husband and personal furniture moving professional was injured. Praying he heals swiftly, and smoothly, and with little pain or inconvenience to himself and his family.
Happy Week to the 3 of you!
