Ok, someone has to keep my out of the garden section at Home Depot! We went from barren wasteland to bordering on tropical jungle in little over a week now. Every time I have to make a stop (which is like twice a week, minimum!) they have added even cuter plants to the clearance stand. When I was there yesterday they had a HUGE pile of orchids on it. I actually have managed to keep another orchid alive for over 2 years now, so I know they will manage to make it at least longer than fresh cut flowers!
I have longed for a cluster of orchids on the dining room table for a few months, but when each orchid is priced around $30 that gets pricey. But at $8 it seems much more reasonable.
The reason they were clearance? Some had lost a bloom or two and had to have their stems cut back until they re-bloom. No biggie, I can wait! They thrive near southern exporsure windows which is what the dining room has so I will patiently await the fresh buds.

Love this post. Reminds me I need to go water my O! Such a classy and beautiful thing to have in the house!
I love orchids but man, they always die on me and I never seem to be able to bring them back! Yours are beautiful!
I love orchids too, but I do not have a green thumb and they don't keep too well.
I love your post. Your arrangement looks so serene and lovely. Your photos are spectacular.
Sissie
Your home looks so "alive" with all your new additions! I love how they look! You have inspired me to get some plants into my house. You have a green thumb!

* Dear Holly~~~
You HONESTLY & SINCERELY just "MADE MY DAY"!!
LSS ("long story SHORT"!), I am recouperating (albeit waaaaaay to slowly & painfully for MY taste!) from breaking my back & having subsequent surgery Dec 18th (broke it in two places, no less... )~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyhoo, "NOW" was one of the 1/2 hours per day I am actually "allowed" (while recouperating), in my study, to read blogs (yes, my eyes are getting blurry from trying to read SO much SO fast!). After reading your first blog, & seeing that WONDERFUL, BLESSED LIL' WREN'S SWEETEST FACE (which put SUCH a smile on mine!), I actually FEEL GREAT!!! WHAT A PRECIOUS LIL' PUMPLIN she is!!!!
ANYHOOOO, I was so enjoying your blog that I kept back-reading n' back-reading~~~ I had SUCH a nice time, & your variety of creative talent, and "up" attitude, were "just what the Dr. ordered", me thinketh! How can ANYONE NOT feel wonderful, looking at the sweeetness of a beautiful baby's face???
THANK YOU SO MUCH~~ Wish you could see how I am smiling right now!!!!!
I'll be back alot, to see what else you've done!
Again, sincere thanks!

Looks lovely Holly!
Okay, I know you were talking about your orchids, but where did you get your topiaries in the background?? I love them! Are they real?
Great post....Love the look
Hey, I thought you had a black thumb! I feel pretty good about my ability to grow stuff, but I've NEVER been able to do orchids! They look beautiful!
I love your topiaries in the background! I bought some rosemary topiaries from Trader Joe's a couple of months ago, and I managed to kill them within 2 weeks! I may have to resort to fake topiaries : (
Melissa
Thanks everyone! I can hardly believe I can keep an orchid too, but low and behold they seem to thrive under my poor attempts at gardening~
Linda, WOW! I have no idea how you have endured an injury like that, but bravo to you for focusing on your recovery. But I am glad you manage to do some blog reading to pass the time too. You are always warmly welcome here in your journey to recovery! Keep us updated on how you are doing~
J and Co and Seagrass, the topiaries in the background are real Myrtle topiaries. They are on the high side of attention requiring plants, but they are too cute that I was willing to give them a try. You can get them at most Home Depot stores or any local greenhouse!
Stumbled in for just the right post. Im a Orchid Nut and have many. They are easy to keep, like little fuss. Also, not sure where your located but for the Best Prices on Orchids try Trader Joes. Here in Southern California they come from the local growers and there is no mark up. The best part about them is, the Blooms can last for months. Beautiful Blog, Jamie
Beautiful photos - I just love orchids and I am lucky they seem to really like my kitchen and do great by the window!

This is one of my favorite posts ever. The orchids & roses are beautiful! And I love the urns that you have them in!
you DEFINITELY have a green thumb if you can keep orchids alive! how I wish I had the talent.. very pretty display!
Holly,
Three weeks ago I bought several orchids from Home Depot...I find it to be a great source for grabbing plants. I have one of my Home Depot orchids featured in my kitchen post. They are a lovely touch to a home!
love love LOVE the new plants! You've inspired me too! I went out to Home Depot and bought a gorgeous little myrtle last week after seeing yours...but somehow I missed the orchids! They are so delicate and beautiful and I love what you've done with putting them all in the same pot. ps....holly I love your style! And your little wren is beautiful in every way!
Oh Holly! You have done a bad bad thing! Lol, I am so obsessed with fresh flowers in my house and I just had my forced bulbs bloom, but now I might be stopping by my home depot on the way home! Now, if I can figure out how to make an orchid last over a month (I tend to drown mine!) I'll be set. Beautiful job :-)
I love orchids. I've never owned one, but I'm definitely considering it.And I know this is off topic, but maybe you can do a post of how you go about matting your pictures. I'm always curious to know other people tricks when doing it! ( Do you buy pre-made mattes, make your own? picking a color, etc)
Absoultely lovely. Orchids are my favorite, but I can't keep them alive. You've inspired me to try again especially with the guarentee no matter how challenged I am at gardening. I especially love your urns and pots! Thanks for sharing.
Meg
Those mini-roses are prefect for that urn. And I can't get enough of that chandelier in your photos!
Also, I've tagged you with the Happy 101 Award!

Love your orchids and your topiaries!
Can you share any orchid tips? Ours never rebloom - it's so sad!
I love the arrangement of pictures behind the orchids (although the flowers are lovely as well). Your house is a composition of serenity. Thanks for sharing!
Love the pot you have the orchids in! Was it just a lucky find?
Love Love Love your blog! I dont know you but am very impressed with your style & skill. Question...where did you get all those pictures on your wall??? The ones behind the orchid on your table? I am in love & that's exactly what I'm looking to do....
Please help! Email me if you can at flightynicole@yahoo.com
Thanks & keep up the great style you have :)
Nicole
