A little new detailing adds a soft touch of elegance.
I decided to go with a two-tone finish in white and a soft dove gray on the detailing and posts. Afterwards I wiped a charcoal paint over the entire thing to age it more without detracting from the gray tones.
The new centerpiece of the headboard.
I really like it's gothic vibe!

Wow - I'm constantly amazing by the transformations you do. This looks amazing! I love the gothic/romantic feel of it and it looks fantastic with the white bedding and pretty chandelier.

Gorgeous as usual!
Looks good! I was thinking about transforming my headboard also... It's a cut out with foam in the front, but I think I'm going to pull off the foam and see what I can do with the back. Thanks for your inspiration!
this is so pretty, i'm totally inspired! thanks for sharing.
Oh wow- you are so talented! I love your blog, it is so inspirational :).

i have to admit that i thought that headboard was pretty ugly, but i knew if anyone could pretty it up, you could. not only did you pretty it up, it is stunning! love the finish you gave it- SO glamorous! it would love fabulous with some champagne colored bedding as well! always a joy and inspiration- thanks!
Looking good as usual. I wish it would warm up here so I could create a paint space like you have and use my handy dandy sprayer you recommended.

Okay here's the deal. I just had a vision of myself running full speed at that bed and then doing a face first body flop right into it. I LOVE THAT BED!
I love seeing your transformations and this might be one of my favorites but Show More, Show More!
I erased my last comment because I had a major spelling error and I'm a bit of a perfectionist! ;)

I am in awe! You turn these ugly ducklings into beautiful swans, that is the best way I can think of how to describe it. Simply beautiful.
Love it! Reminds me of a mirror I bought off Craigs List. I painted it black, though.

Simply elegant!
We need a headboard for our guest bedroom and I was all set on one day attempting your fabirc headboard since you so generously provided instructions but ever since you posted about the canopy bed, and now this beauty, I'm thinking maybe I'll search Craigslist and add to my never ending list (and crammed garage) of things to paint around here. :) It looks so inviting... and lovely, as usual.
Just beautiful Holly!
OMG! Awesome.....truly....I want this headboard! I am definitely on the lookout now...this weekend...tomorrow morning...I will be up and leaving the house at 7am to be the first customer into our local hot spot- thrift shop. Thank you so much for the inspiration....Love, love, love it!
Oh my gosh it's gorgeous.
Thats beautiful!!
Amazing transformation! laurie
Holly - you truly have an eye for seeing the beauty in things that others simply toss aside! You do beautiful work.
I love all the white that you have in your home. Sure would love to see a post sometime about how best to care for all the white washing you must do (slip covers, pillow covers, sheets etc.) ie How do you keep your slip covers from shrinking? I would love love love to have a white slipcovered couch, but I have an 11 month old and work with college students. Just want to know what I'm getting into before I take the plunge.
Thanks Holly!
Sharon

I get the dove gray, love it! but what about the charcoal finish, what is that?
Oh wow - I love it! You're pieces are all so gorgeous!!

Great Work! I like how it accents a white color but really you have various shades of grey in there. I love it!
I would like to know how you placed the detailed work on head board!? Glue?
Thanks for this post! Breeanna

I recently found your website, along with a few others that I'm enjoying! The headboard is absolutely sensational! Your vision to see things for what they could be and not for what they are is fabulous! (You and I were both thinking headboards yesterday...check out my new blog). Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much Everyone!!
Sharon, I did one back in April or May I believe... I'll have to go back and get the link~
Little Lovables, the charcoal finish is just watered down charcoal colored paint. It is beyond easy to do, and the messier the better!
Hope you are all having a great weekend~
nice job...
your like a God when it comes to this stuff haha its gorgeous!!
Love the headboard and your blog! Could you please share what paint the gray is that you used. I have been looking for a soft gray that doesn't pull blue for my bedroom walls for a while now. Thanks!
Oooo La la! Lovely!
Okay, now I have become that reader who is totally bugged by all of the other readers who think they can do what you do. Ugh. Guess what other readers. What Holly does is artistic, from the gut artistic. I hate when other people think it's as easy as mixing together some paint and calling it good. Holly, you have a gift. Keep up the greatness.
Absolutely stunning! What a fabulous project!!
