Our baby sleeps in a big girl bed!
Her room really only needed a few new pieces once her crib came out, mainly just a new bed and a night stand. Both of which I had set aside for months already, and both found in thrift stores for a combined total of less than $50.
We decided to paint the bed a soft blue and distress it so you could see some of the beautiful wood grain details still.
The plaque at the top of the head board was just calling for something special so I hand painted her name on it in a soft grey.
The two pillow shams are from Kohl's ($9.99 or less!) and her duvet, cover and sheets all come from Ikea and totalled less than $80.
It was an interesting bed and I find it funny that the headboard has casters but the footboard doesn't and never did!

There are probably 50 different shades of blue in Wren's room, but I like that because it doesn't feel too baby-ish, but a little more eclectic. Her bedroom cabinet is still probably one of my all time favorite finds~
You may remember her shaggy raggy rug coming to pieces a few months ago due to overwashing, so I decided to keep it cheap and easy this time. A great kids room floor covering idea are these small rugs from Ikea ($2.99 each). You could stitch a few together to make one larger rug but I like to throw them helter-skelter and let wren move and play with them. At $2.99 they are definitely magic carpets in my book!
Another recent acquisition is this vintage horse blanket. My grandparents and mom used to use it when showing horses and while it has seen better days I love the rough grey underside, holes and all!!

I used to use it as a cape when I was little and the bright blue/silver side is the perfect hit of drama when we need it.
All in, we converted Wren's room to a big girl room for just under $130!

What a lovely girls room. It will be stylish and fun for her for years to come if need be! I love the pom pom balls above her bed and my favorite piece is also the wardrobe! It's so pretty!
NO WAY Holly. That room leaves me speechless, I don't even know where to begin! So beautiful and breathtaking. I'd sure be proud to call that room my own!! LOVE the bed, love everything. Well done!

It is absolutely perfect. And her name on the bed is just such a special touch. I am sure many fun memories will be created in her big girl bedroom!
Wren's room is gorgeous. I love it. Can I move in?
Holly I love Wren's room, just gorgeous. Straight out of a magazine. Speaking of magazines you need to be in one girl.
Love it all. Sandy xx
Wow, it's gorgeous! Kuddos!
Such a precious room! I am stuck on how to finish decorating my sweet girl's room so I will defnintely pull some inspiration from what you have done with Wren's room :)
It turned out gorgeous! I love the bed and all the blues! How do you keep her from falling out the other side of the bed though? I need to do a big boy bed and really hate all the toddler beds that are out.
Awww thank so much everyone! I am one proud mama and like to make things special for my Wren~
K, I knew she would be ok, and so far she has, because she didn't move much in the night. We would tuck her in and the next morning she would be in the exact same positiong LOL. But I actually throw a few pillows on the floor just to be safe!
Holly,
This is absolutely gorgeous. I desperately want to paint something in my house that soft blue, but our home is a lodge-style craftsman and all of my colors are dark or neutral. So when I see someone use soft blue, I drool! I have to wipe my keyboard off quite often!!
Wow. I don't want to stop looking at the pictures.
Absolutely adorable and stunning! The armoire cabinet just makes the whole thing! Lovely!
SO beautiful, but I wouldn't expect any less :-)
How's the master closet reno coming? I check in every day hoping to see progress pics!

So, so pretty Holly! LOVE the color of the bed! Isn't it fun painting something a color once in a while. I am so over white this week. Ugh. I think I'm gonna bust out some blue, too! ;o)

It all looks so good! Wish I had a little girl to decorate for!
What an amazing transformation! That bed is beyond fabulous! Great color choice and her name adds a special little detail :) I love that her room is girly, but not..and works for a toddler, but will still be just as great when she is older!

Love it!! Totally gorgeous!! For my daughter's dorm room when she was in college, we did the same thing with the area rugs. We used 5 different colors. It really made her room so, so cute! Xoxo

I want to sleep there. Do you think Wren would consider trading?

what an absolute treasure of a bedroom!
My Gosh look at Wren! What a little baby doll, I mean baby bird'. She is so adorable and her hair even looks like a little bird.
The room is fantastic and all the little birdies are singing.
This room belongs in a magazine!
I love everything about it especially the pretty blue baubles (balls) hanging from the ceiling!
You are so awesome Holly! You never cease to amaze me!
also meant to mention that Wren's name on the headboard is pure genius ♥
Very sweet and girly...good job!
Adorable!! Wren is a lucky girl!!
Oh Holly!!!! It is GORGEOUS!! I am constantly so amazed at how you can see the potential in things that I would walk right past-that bed is to DIE FOR! Any chance you'd share the top of the paint can so we could know the recipe for that color? It's the perfect blue green which is really hard to get! That armoire is still my all time fave of your finds. Bravo! Stunning and oh so girly beautiful!
Oh my that's just beautiful, truly stunning! Amazing job and for under $130, wow!

Wren's room is so beautiful!!! Love it!!
hehe omg she is too adorable with a beautiful room to match! You outdid yourself, yet again!!
I just cant coming back to see her sweet pea room.... :)
The room looks so great! And I can't believe how much Wren's hair has grown!
1. That room is so beautiful! I am so glad that you did not go down the row of the standard issue pink for little girls. I am all about individuality! Whoever said that it HAS to be pink? It's beyond me.
2. You did NOT lean a piece of wood against your Mercedes! I grew up down the street from where Gottlieb Daimler built the first Mercedes, and my German heart just skipped a beat! Don't scratch the Benz! OMG!
3. O.K. Phew! I'm back. I'm focused. I'm all right. That bedroom should be in a magazine. So there.
I love how Wren's room turned out... What a lucky little girl!
What a GORGEOUS bedroom for your litle princess!
Simply gorgeous! Stunning, really.
Also love the little doohickies above her bed. Did you make or buy? Anyone know where to find those????
Love your creative style! I just moved into a new flat in Amsterdam and am now inspired to incorporate some shabby chic.

Absolutely beautiful!
What a beautiful room.....I love it! Can you tell me where to find that lamp? It would be perfect in my little girl's room.
The colors are so soft and dreamy. I could move right in. The super soft blue on the bed frame is stunnng. Your daughter is adorable! Love her smile.
Candylei
Her bedroom is a magical place - any little girl would love to live there. My inner little girl approves. You continue to impress and inspire.
Hi Holly,
could you let your readers know what color you used to re-paint Wren's bed. I'd like to use that same color in my bedroom. thanks so much!
you are a decor genius!
That bed is so gorgeous!! I am thinking of doing a double bed myself. It has the same brown color that your little girl's bed had, I was thinking of white but this blue color you used is so beautiful! Can I ask u for a tip sending you a picture of the bed I want to paint?
It's Perfect!!
the room looks fantastic holly! also, i'm dying to know where you got those cute pj's for wren, care to share?
What a sweet room for Wren:) I am in the middle of redoing some things in my daughter's room and want to add her monogram to her headboard. I am trying to decide between vinyl and handpainting it. Did you use graphite paper to trace the font and then paint over it or did you freehand it? If you painted it freehand I am even more impressed! :) I also would like to know the shade of blue that you used for her bed, it is so serene looking. Thanks!
In love I tell ya!
Absolutely stunning, love the bed. Great job!
Absolutely stunning, love the bed and pom poms. Great job!
Hi Holly! I am just about to move my girl to a "big girl room" and would love to pick up a vintage bed, much like the one you found for Wren...I also live in Edmonton and was hoping you would share a few of your favorite thrift spots...I've been to the Strathcona Mall and that's about it!
Thanks so much!!
This room is absolutely precious!! I'm working on a big boy room myself! Its hard ma,king decisions for my little man, I think I will let him decide what he wants when it comes to paint colors and bed accessories! With options to choose from of course. This should be interesting!!
I know this is an older post but I can't seem to find the tutorial for the bed and I thought you had one. Can you post the link pretty please?
