Bookcase and a side table

Sometimes I find interesting items and I wonder where it came from, what it's story? Other times it's pretty obvious.
Photobucket
Now it's story will take a different turn. Probably holding stories for avid readers like myself instead of perfumes (it is labelled "fragrance cabinet" on the backside).
Photobucket
Hard to see, but I wanted a little of the pretty blue wood to peek through slightly.
Photobucket
It is a unique depth... well it's kind of unique all around I guess.
Photobucket
This guy caught my eye for his size and drawers, but a little out of character from my usual style.
Photobucket
So I thought I would stay out of character and do a dark dark grey finish, contrasted with my favorite knobs lately.

Now I am off to paint a console for my sister and a few other goodies while Wren hangs with her aunt Torri~

I always wish I knew the history behind our pieces - how cool that it was obvious with that piece!

Hi Holly! I've never commented before but I had to tell you about the Crabtree cabinet! I used to own a boutique and I had that very cabinet. :) It is a display that comes with a minimum wholesale order of merchandise. What you have is the top, and it sat on a wider base. I have used many of the displays in my own home, but never thought to use the top of that cabinet-- I wish I still had it! :) Thanks for your lovely blog- I enjoy it so much.

Love the little guy. I think you really should venture out of character more. Try some other colours on for size.

Both beautiful pieces as always, Holly! You always do such a lovely job with staging them, too. The bookcase is wonderful and the little gray table is very striking with the knobs and the red tulips. I love your pieces!

That sound you just heard was me falling over in a dead faint on floor. First of all, you did another bookshelf, and second of all, you painted something NOT WHITE OR CREAM! OR WHITE WITH LIGHT BLUE OR GREEN STRIPES THAT REALLY LOOKED WHITE! Holy cow. My heart almost can't take it. ;) Of course I looooooove both pieces, as I do all of your pieces. But I just about came undone with the two things in one post.

Very nice! Where did you find the cute little dog bookends? Were those a recent acquisition?

Hi Holly, my favorite is the little grey table. It is SO cute. That was the perfect shade of grey for it and the knobs are exactly what it needed :)

Ahhh Valerie I wish you kept yours too, thanks so much for sharing!!!

SShaw, the bookends are actually a wonderful christmas gift from my mom about 3 christmases ago. But I have seen them in a few mags since so I am sure they are around somewhere. Sorry I am not a lot of help.

Valerie and Catherine you guys are hilarious!! I actually work with color all the time (today I painted an orange bookcase!!) so it is kind of like my release to work with white/light grey (aka my true loves) with my own pieces. I think I need to show more of my client jobs so you guys can see the craziness.

The C&E 'bookcase' is just beautiful the way you redid it! What a lovely peice to have. I'm always curious to hear stories & histories, too. How did you come about such a piece yourself?

YES! More client pieces, please! I would love to see some of your more colorful pieces ... not because I don't love the white, but because I love color, too. :)
