It is funny that I've never worked on a bookcase... I am asked about them all the time by clients but it isn't often that I find a decent, solid wood one.
But I saw this cute little TV stand and thought maybe we could do something cool with it...
I cut a piece of beadboard for the back (from the pile of laundry room ceiling remnants) and used an air nailer to attach it.
It also needed something to add some detail to the bottom so I used another remnant, this time from the yucky old china cabinet I worked on last year.
Have a lovely, lazy Sunday and thanks for dropping by!

Only you could make that sad little bookcase look so totally beautiful!!
Everything is so pretty! You did a nice job fixing AND decorating it.
Beautiful. I've been looking through your site to see if you have any tips for giving furniture a face lift. You seem to be so good at it! But I haven't found anything. Do you have such a thing?
Looks great!
Gorgeous! I just can't ever get over how much potential you see in a bunch of crap. ;) So inspiring!
I would have passed this by. You did a great job and I love the blue books.
It looks beautiful! I love the detail you added to it. Nice job! I also like all of your aqua books and those pretty candles!
What a great job you did on this, and how clever you are to see the potential in what was a very ordinary piece of furniture. Thanks for the great pictures

Greetings from Norway!
Hi Holly, isn't that odd I only worked on a bookcase too this week. They are a common request and yet we hardly paint them. They are time consuming though as you have to paint both undersides. I will post a picture of mine soon. Yours has come up gorgeous. Have a great week Sandy x
~*~* I love how it turned out Holly!! :) Great job~*~* Rachel

Such a cute little bookcase.
I love those candles you have in the finished bookcase, I have hade one of those myself in the past.
Wow, that is impressive!
The detailing you added looks fantastic, and it looks so pretty filled with all of those lovely, turquoise books! Nicely done :)
This looks so cute! I love the perfect dust print of some sorta tool in the before photo - looks like you've been hard at work!
it looks amazing.
Love the pretty swirly detail with the beadboard. Great finishing touches!
how can you stand to have that fabulous stove in your garage????it must be driving you crazy....hope your kitchen reno is going good!!!
love the bookcase. when i look for furniture, i look for the great legs and detail. anything can be fixed with a coat or two of paint and some wood filler!!!
It is killing me slowly Cindy!!!! But alas we do not have the stove slot converted to gas yet so it is useless to us right now... not to mention that it won't fit in the current 30 inch opening. But that will hopefully change SOON!
I love all the fun additions and little touches you always think of, so cute!!
that looks soooooooooo nice.
i love the way it turned out. i just got rid of a bookcase yesterday that i intended to re-do similarly, but never did. darn. now i wish i still had it. love all the old books and all the touches of blue.
Once again beautiful! I love the books and pretties in it too!! (Those are my favorite candles!)
I'll have you know that I just love your blog! I always come back for each and every post! ( no. I'm not a total creapy stalker! lol!) Great furniture peices!
