I was hoping today would be a sunny winter's day... no such luck. It is still grey and hazy, but I couldn't wait any longer to take a picture of my new favorite piece of furniture.
Here it is before, sitting a top my pile.
Like all my favorite finds it was only $15 (now that I think about it, that is kind of weird, right?). And while I kind of liked the original patina of the wood, there was some drawings on the top done by a little person not that long ago with a permanent marker, so it was destined to be painted.
I went with a light grey paint, distressed to show both the original wood as well as some white paint underneath for just the right amount of character.
Unfortunately during a recent furniture shuffle my beloved little birdie suffered an injury. But I will love him still, no matter how many pieces he is in.
This mirror replaces the black one that previous sat atop this dresser , it was from a very grainy 70's dresser. It looks and feels much fresher now!

The table looks fantastic and works so well as a night stand, another wonderful re-do!!!
So great! I love to see your "pile" And where did you get your bedside lamp?
Love that mirror, so gorgeous!
I LOVE the pile photo! My basement has become overcome with my project pieces too! Isn't it the best feeling when you get a piece done & it looks fabulous! Painting is my stress relief!!
Oh how I LOVE this table and room!! I am currently re-doing my master bedroom. This is the {perfect} inspiration!! Will you share the wall color? It is just what I am looking for!! Thanks, you are amazing!!

I was just about to say ''YES!!'' - to you leaving your wall grey - then I read the bottom of the post.
Love that grey, it's a def keeper IMO!!
Another amazing project... Beautiful!
It's good to know that fellow design bloggers have to 'convince' their hubbies sometimes too!

Thanks so much ladies!!
Taina, I actually custom mixed it in my "paint lab", but I highly recommend looking over at Bryn Alexandra's blog. She just shared some wonderful colors!
Suzy, I always LOVE seeing it in photos and in little snippets I take of the room, but overall I just don't feel it "matches"... I still want something dramatic though.
Ooops, sorry I forgot about you Melissa! I got the lamp (actually 2 of them) at Home Goods about 2 years ago~
I love the white mirror against the grey walls !
Holly, I am totally a blog-stalker of Maria over at Dreamy Whites. She is totally making me want to put tin on a ceiling somewhere. Maybe my hallway??? Hmmmm...and her chandeliers are 2die4! I can totally relate to that pile. I have a warehouse full calling my name today, but I just can't seem to drag my butt out of the house today to go down and work. Ugh. ~mary~
Beautiful! I have a drop leaf table that I love, even though it never seems to have the perfect niche in my home....but I can't part with it. It's too adorable. I'm also loving the paint behind your bed, even though you don't--it's so dramatic.
Mary, you NEED to start showing us all your piles and pieces!!! And I am still (un)patiently waiting to see your basement workshop... pretty please???
Holly~ everything you do gets better than the last thing....I love this and the gray is perfect!
I'm off to check out the fab blogs you mentioned.
Ooooh, so cute. I love that. It's funny your pieces always appear to be white (ish) and I'm always surprised when you name the color you used.
I say go for the light grey walls!!!!! Just imagine how much it would make all your gorgeous furniture POP!
Fabulous! You my dear are very talented! xo
i love, love, love that wall color. it really shows off the curves in the mirror. love it and all your stuff!
That table looks fantastic, just like everything else you do! Wonderful...
I want a garage filled with goodies like yours....how fun! The table looks beautiful! I would love to know what companies you are looking at for wallpaper. My husband is making a sewing room for me and my daughter and I want a wall with some great old looking cherry blossoms type wallpaper.... I have had no luck so far finding what I am looking for. Hopefully you can help:)
Blessings to you,
Melissa
Looks lovely! I really wanted an old vanity in my bedroom but this just gave me an idea. Thank you! Gorgeous work!
What a great pile! So many possibilities...
I love what you do!
Gorgeous! I love everything you create and paint. Purely stunning work! ~lulu
This may sound weird, but I love seeing pictures of your garage- all the fantastic diamonds-in-the-rough that are waiting to be polished. Love the lamp also!
Holly,
I just found your site from another blog...not sure which one. I love all the pieces you have done. Thanks for the inspiration!! I hope to decorate my bedroom with a painted 70's dresser set, and paint my kitchen and banister. Was it hard to paint your banister? Did you spray that too?
Cindy
Hi Holly, I stopped by to check on your latest projects. I am happy that you discovered those inspiring ladies from my blog. I am a huge fan of them both as well as YOU!
I always enjoy looking at your beautiful home and seeing what you are up to. All the best, Lori
I like the paint color....maybe you are just use to all the white in your home! :))
Anyhow, looks BEAUTIFUL! I am in the middle of doing my office...hope it looks just as cute!

Weeeellll when you have such GREAT ideas you will get more bloggers. I LOVE your blog and you have me wanting to paint everything white-you should see my summer 'To Do' list.
I love the lamp on the night stand and have been looking for something similar-where did you find it?

It's gorgeous! I would love for that to be my bedside table, and I wouldn't mind the lamp either.
Love the night stand, mirror and lamp!
Shush and then shush again. This is TOO MUCH! Love the table, love the mirror, the lamp? LOVE IT. I love the wall color but please do wallpaper just so I can love that too. I'm not kidding, Shush!
ahhh dreamy whites had me at hello! gorgeous home.
and look at all your treasures :0 your blog is a fave holly....very real and inspiring. keep it up :)
i'm also loving grey.....we just chose all our house colors and the BM greys dominate throughout...so excited! :)
Holly it turned out beautifully! love the table and the new mirror. Cant wait to see what your thinking with the wallpaper, I'm thinking the same thing my self for our master bedroom!!
~Navya
I have that exact same table. It was a hand me down from my mil when we first got married. It was green at the time. We stripped and sanded about four coats of paint off of it - green, pink, white and I don't remember what else, blue I think. We left it wood and stained at that point. That was twelve years ago. It's ready for a change when it comes out of storage.
Your $15 was a steal as I saw one exactly like ours in an antique store in Kansas for $150. :)
Thats funny you mentioned Dreamy Whites, I just found her blog a couple of days ago!
I love the Vanity you created. Thats such a good idea to use that mirror, there are always alot of those at goodwill but I never can think of anything cute to do with them. Sometimes it takes someone else to make the light click on! Thanks!
That is beautiful. You work magic on all your pieces. Great job.
Love it!
HI Holly,
Hey thank you so much for all those wonderful things you said about ME on your blog. You made my day!!!! That was so kind of you to send your friends to have a peak at my blog. They left some very sweet comments. I really appreciate it.
I have been following your blog and love seeing your work and glimpses of your home. You are a real inspiration. I too love to paint furniture. I sometimes think I go a little overboard, but can't help myself with the paint brush. It is therapeutic!
Look forward to your next post!
Thanks again,
Maria
I just wanted to say Lori is the reason for me starting a blog in the first place. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have even discovered this amazing world of blogging. She is a real gem.
Take Care,
Maria
Ok..the table is great! I LOVE the wall color! It's such a contrast against the white and it's just awesome. :)
Love your "stock" and the mirror is beautiful!
Hi Holly
I was speechless when I saw your drop-leaf table. I have exactly the same one. I bought it 19 years ago,(with 4 chairs) as a "newlywed dining room set."
I still have the table which is 2 colors of blue. I have wanted to strip it and paint it , but just have not dared. Once it is spring here in Manitoba, I WILL PAINT IT!!! Thanks so much for the inspiration.
WOw looks fabulous!! ANd I love the mug ;)
I love the look of the lamp directly in front of the mirror!!!
and yes, dreamy whites' light color grey on the wall looks beautiful. I am moving to this new condo and really wanted to paint the walls a sage color but now I'm torn. I need your opinion, do you think that paniting one wall or the dining area a sage color and everything else the light grey would look good? The condo is open floor plan with light color tiles.
thanks
I love the table and I especially love it against your dark walls. The contrast is so striking! I understand the need for a bedroom to feel a certain way though. Ours looked great in pictures, but it just wasn't right, so we're starting from scratch. Yay us. I still love your room though!
I love this type of table!!!! You did a great job redoing it.
Oh don't change the wall color!! That was the first thing I noticed. Its the perfect contrast for your beautiful furniture!!!
That mirror is unbelievable against the dark wall! Absolutely beautiful.
OMG! Love it, I have a very similiar piece too. is yours missing one side? mine is too. I love the original patina of the wood, but couldn't resist painting it...see it here

love your work,D
Oooo, I love this table used as a night stand. I have a similar table, but I'm afraid mine would be too large for the space. I may have to bring it downstairs to find out.
Love this. I was so excited to see that you were doing a grey/white scheme, as that's just what my mom is planning for her guest room. She was so happy to see some wonderful inspiration.
I love to see all of your projects - so inspiring and beautiful. If only you were closer, so I could buy every single thing you create. ;)
Your blog makes me want to live in Canada so I can buy your stuff!! And it's so reasonably priced! :)
