I often get emails about 2 items of clothing you guys have seen in various photos. One is the shirt in the FAQ section, and the other is my ripped up, destroyed jeans. What can I say? I like my jeans like my furniture: distressed!
My absolute favorite-est jeans ever were purchased for $39 at Hollister, my second favs came from Abercrombie. Then there area my un-intentionally destroyed designer jeans that have become favorites thanks to the beautifully random holes acquired through various exploits. But you definitly don't mean to put a hole in pricey jeans!
Back to my steals.... If you are in the market for a pair of ripped up, comfy jeans to wear as the perfect foil to some glamorously feminine blouse, or just a white tee then run, don't walk to your nearest Hollister! I know, I know, you feel freakishly old shopping amongst all the 14 year olds but it is well worth it to snag a pair of jeans for $21!
Yes, $21! Oh, and the sweaters are $6.90. That's exactly 90% off the original price. I found this snazzy striped one and it is perfect for these last days of winter. I still cannot believe I only walked out with 2 items... so basically an outfit for under $30.
Today we braved an early morning to go and pick up this deal I snagged off Kijiji. But don't let it be said that we don't work for these deals! When we arrived to pick it up Sean braved a trip up the homeowner's treacherous icy front steps, and decided it had to come out the back of the house to avoid any broken necks. Well, we had it all nicely loaded up when the elderly homeowner asked if we could give him a lift to pick up his truck at a nearby garage. Sure! We are friendly people, hop in!
Well, let's just say he was very vague at giving directions and leave it at that. He insisted we commited highway robbery for paying him full asking price until we pulled out of the garage parking lot... I swear I could write a very entertaining book about the characters we've met along the way~
And finally, on to my splurge! As I have informed you numerous times, the charcoal wall in our master just isn't doing it for us so I have been pouring over interesting wall paper options. 3+ months of removing layers and layers of wallpaper all over this house really had us hesitatant to commit to anything, but today I saw this paisley silver and white wallpaper and knew it was perfection! At $150/roll it is a pricey change, but I am certain it is what I have been looking for.
Here are a couple bolder paisley walls, but I really love that you don't see paisley used very often as a wall covering. It is kind of a less dramatic option to damask I guess.

I absolutely love the wallpaper, but Paisley is absolutely my favorite pattern. I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like after you put it up!
I love the wallpaper and the chucks. I've been wearing my son's all week.
The wallpaper is gorgeous and worth every penny. You are too cute for words. I wish I was young and skinny, then Hollister would feel more appropriate. The furniture you find blows my mind. That thing is AWFUL and I know when you are done with it......MARVELOUS. Can't wait to see the end result.
Great wallpaper I have always adored paisley! Those are perfect tones. very excited to see what you do with the dresser.

Wait, so did he think he undercharged you, or that you ripped him off??
Wow that wallpaper is amazing!!! Can't wait to see it up in your room! You have such great taste :)
Love, love, love the wallpaper! ~mary~
LOL, he must have thought he undercharged.
Tammy you need to get a pair of your own chucks! I decided to take the plunge when I found these pink ones~
Are Forever XXI and Hollister related? The jeans at Forever XXI are ~$21, too. Great clothes...most of which I don't fit in too well, but it keeps me motivated!
Ooh - I love the lines of the dresser. Can't wait to see what you do with it - and the wallpaper!
I have that chest of drawers! It also has a matching nightstand---we have it in one of our guest bedrooms.
you should check out purestylehome blog...she used a RL stencil to paint a pattern on her wall similar to the look of the paisley wallpaper...for a LOT LESS...look under her before and after section...love your blog by the way!
Thanks for the tip Holly - you know I share your love of Abercrombie and Hollister! That dresser is fantastic and I spy something lovely behind it too. Can't wait to see them after you work your magic.
looks like the dresser i did over
Hi there,
How do I email you if I don't have outlook? I have a suggestion for your bedroom wallpaper, as this is the EXACT paper I have been lusting over. I have a bit of a different idea for the use of it and would love to share it with you.
Thanks!
Kristin
Love the title and can't wait to see what the paper looks like when it's up.
I LOVE Lauren's wall too Laskos! Unfortunately I have no patience for that (ironic since I paint for a living LOL). I really wish I could dedicate some time to just stenciling though because it definitely would save a lot of $$$.
Kris, you can email me at inthefunlane@gmail.com
Holly you just reminded me that my absolute favorite jeans ever were from Hollister years ago. And now that my wheels are turning I cannot for the life of me remember what happened to them! I sure don't remember them being $21 though and despite being almost 26 with a hubby and a toddler, I too will brave looking like I'm "too old" and go get me some of my favorite jeans again today! I cannot tell you how excited this makes me since as we all know, jeans shopping can be the most depressing part of our lives at times. :)
P.S. Love the dresser... and the little old man story. Your stories are as cute as you are!
Gorgeous wallpaper! Love the outfit too! And yes I do feel freakishly old while there! ;)
i hit the sale earlier this week! i got my husband a pair of hollister jeans for 24.50 & i got two pairs of a&f jeans for 29.00 a piece! love it! =)
I can't wait to see how that dresser turns out. I have the exact same one. Got it off Craigslist for $20. I have to paint it some day.
I had the EXACT, and I mean exact dresser, when I was growing up, with a desk to match and the double pencil post bed. When I moved out, I took the set with me, and later got married and sold the set to a young couple with a daughter. I can't wait to see what you do with the dresser
Cheryl
Holly - this whole post had me in stitches, purely because I can relate! First, to entertaining Craigslist encounters (I once had a woman that told me I could just take her truck if the desk didn't fit in my car - as long as I brought it back of course. And then proceeded to invite me and my fiance to stay at her house if we ever needed to get away - creeepy!!!) And I just bought 2 shirts and a pair of shoes at Charlotte Rousse (another 14 and under store) for under $30!!
Sorry for the long comment - love your blog!
Melissa
I SWEAR I had that same dresser when I was little!!! It looks EXACTLY like it, and I had the matching mirror! Craziness!!! :) Thanks for sharing!
I have that same exact dresser set since I was a newborn (we had the whole bedroom set), still have it too! We really need some grown up furniture!
