Spring Shop Finds

 photo _MG_4194_zpsbc30663a.jpg
I have Spring on my brain! I just uploaded a ton of new blankets to my etsy shop and you can definitely see a pattern: all the blankets are super happy and in spring-like colors.

It was brought to my attention on Instagram that most people had no idea I had an etsy shop, so please excuse the fact that I've mentioned it twice this week. I just want everyone to see all these beauties and find them loving new homes!

My favorites are always the brightest, funnest colors. I was given a handmade blankie for Wren at her baby shower and the lovely friend of my Mom's who made it wrote me the sweetest card. Paraphrasing here, but she wanted to give Wren a special blanket that not only kept her warm but was the start of her best adventures. Because with a little imagination a blanket can be anything from a fort to a magic carpet to a cape for a child. The adventures are limitless!

I am hoping these blankets have the some good travels and adventures in their future as well.

Hey Oyster Update (and code, but shhhhhh it's a secret)

I have been having so much fun over the last couple weeks with my new Etsy Store

My pile of blankets and sweaters only seems to grow, taking over multiple rooms in the house right now. To try and keep my sanity I want to make room for the new ones in the shop before I list them so as a well deserved thank you I thought I would share some love with a special coupon code valid only from now until Sunday night!

I know it isn't much in comparison to the support you have given, but I truly have so much to be thankful for and I owe it to you and the love you've given Hey, Oyster and In The Fun Lane.

Have fun shopping dolls, Toodles!

Open for Business

heyOyster photo heyOyster-1.jpg
Eeeek! I am kind of nervous, yet all excited at the same time. Today is my first day of business over at my Hey, Oyster etsy store!!!

It took a little longer than I expected or hoped to get set up with all the usual craziness around here but I am so thrilled to finally open the proverbial doors.  I still have a handful of treasures to post, including a pile of ADORABLE handmade vintage children`s sweaters but all in all the majority of my effort is already up.

I honestly love each and every treasure for different reasons or different hypothetical furniture they would look great with, but in the end I can`t hoard them all to myself. So this is a way of sharing all the beautiful handmade goodies I find with you.

I have yet to decide whether I will keep cycling through inventory as I find new treasures or if I want to approach it more as a `flash` site that I restock every month or two all at once so let me know what you would prefer.

And as always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love and support! I have had some really really touching emails and comments about getting this little venture off the ground.

Something Small I'm Cooking Up

I have been slowly working on something for the last month. You all know I love to collect, the cooler the objects the more I want them, even if I don't need or have room for them.

My latest obsession came about when I stumbled upon this beauty a few weeks ago. It is an amazingly big and soft afghan that has a black/white/grey chevron pattern. I'm sure whomever made this baby had no idea that chevrons would be so big and the fact it was in such neutral colors struck me as unusual. I always pictured afghans to be horrible shades of brown and avocado for some reason...

But once I started comparing it to others, I couldn't believe how beautiful and special each blanket was. I wanted ALL of them!! But of course, I don't need any of them. So my mom and I came up with the idea to start a little online shop selling handmade vintage blankets. And that is how my latest adventure came about. I've decided to call it Hey, Oyster. It may sound silly, but it is an homage to the fact that each blanket is a unique treasure, much like a pearl. Oh yeah, and purl is a knitting term that I had no idea existed until this whole scheme started cooking but I like that it plays into Oyster nicely.

I remember when we decorated Wren's nursery it was a major stroke of luck that my mom had saved many of my baby blankets and they just so happened to be blue. In the spirit of reduce, recycle, reuse more families are making it a priority to find pre-loved, yet original products for their children (or themselves), so I am thrilled to have a little place where there is a fun rainbow of colors to choose from to match whatever look they are after.

I have found soooo many little gems, I know it is going to be hard to part with them but I will be happy seeing them go on to new, equally loving families. It may be another week or so until the site goes live, but I cannot wait to share it with you.

Cheers to new adventures and new endeavors in 2013!
