Today is my third and final recap of our whirlwind adventure in May! Our third stop in Europe was to the South of France, which was Sean's request. He has always wanted to go and so he handled everything for this leg of the journey.
We took a 6 hour train ride from Paris all the way to Nice. It sounds long but we had a great time, between lip syncing together to making dining car runs we got to see such beautiful the country side all the way.
We took the trolley down to old town Nice and I am soooo glad Sean knew how to find it because our hotel was literally a tiny door between a cathedral and butcher! It was only a 7 room hotel (Hotel Rosetti, if you are interested in heading to Nice) but it was by far the coolest little hotel I've ever stayed at!
We had this beautiful Patio to ourselves most afternoons we weren't out exploring.
Where Sean would usually enjoy a cold beer and I would dig into whatever my latest find at the local patiserrie was.
Like this giant coconut/icing/meringue creation.
The whole city, but Old Town in particular is stunning. Words really cannot describe the beauty.
But my love of pastels was only heightened thanks to rainbow streets everywhere.
We were only a couple blocks to the beach so we spent a lot of time strolling there and dipping our toes in.
I tried going deeper than toes, but the combo of rocks (there's no sand there!) and tide meant my legs would get stoned with every wave. Ouch! I gave it a few tries but resigned myself to laying on my towel and enjoying the view in the end.
On our first day at the beach we saw this beautiful water fall up on the top of the hill side and decided to climb it the next day.
It was a small hike but SOOOOO worth it once we saw the view from up there!
Ombre waters
The next morning Sean decided to go get a car and take me on a tour of the coast! We hit Monte Carlo, Cannes and went out into the hills to check out Grasse (where the parfumeries are!).
The road to Monaco was stunning! Just a tiny little road on the coast all the way.
How amazing are the hills of Monte Carlo! They are covered in candy colored villas.
Back in Old Town Nice we spent our days exploring the beautiful streets, stopping to eat at the endless bakeries and restaurants as we felt hungry and then continuing on exploring!
I can't wait to head back to Nice, it really is one of those places that feels like a dream. Sharing it with all of you here and on Instagram has been so fun! I didn't have much opportunity to respond to most comments while we were away, but thank you all. I had so much fun capturing everything and reading all the sweet words you left for me.
