I recently became acquainted with a wonderful local photographer here in Edmonton by the name of Nathan. Like many of us he was eager to get his transformation underway and forgot the before shot, but for only $50 for the cabinet and all supplies he took this plain cabinet from junky to funky! Can you believe the top is actually the original wook showing through, like a reverse stencil? Amazing, I would never have the patience for that.

Becky transformed a whole corner of her dining room with a little elbow grease and a cool old cabinet. I really don't have much to add, because her lovely pictures really speak for themselves!

Gorgeous, and when can I come have tea with you and Teagan, Becky?

Arielle always wanted to at least attempt upholstering a chair. She knew it would be messy, and so she kept her investment to a minimum with a pair of club chairs she grabbed for $75 from a local hotel. With a little hardwork she has scratched it off her bucket list and I have to say, they look like really expensive new chairs!! Do we see a new career in her future perhaps?

Melissa (and Rick!) scooped up this old chair lying next to a dumpster... hello, where are these dumpsters you guys frequent?!! I will probably never work on a piece this intense, because after painting it Melissa took it to an appraiser and discovered it is over 150 years old and valued between $1000-$30,000!!! Seriously, where is this dumpster?

She also snagged this dresser for their new master bedroom for only $35! I LOVE the transformation, the hardware, the color, actually everything about it!

Shannon shared her very first transformation with us, and I can hardly believe she isn't an old pro! She picked up this dresser to transform for the nursery of baby (due any minute!!!), but it required a large amount of stripping. Now that it is all complete, painted in Behr' Cherry Tart, I think you can see it was well worth it!

Kathleen's sister brought her this fantastic old dresser ( fabulous sister you've got there Kathleen!) to see if she could revive it. With a little paint, some beautiful new hardware and a little hardwork Kathleen succeeded and it looks like a completely new dresser.

I think we have all seen similar tables to these ones that my buddy Jess scored recently. But I know that I really don't have any idea what to do with 2 of them, so I instantly fell in love with how Jess has decided to place them in her dreamy bedroom! A stroke of genius, and totally unexpected.

These 2 art deco transformations come from the lovely Lenore (and fellow Canadian whoot!). She found them stashed in a barn filled with goodies and made them completely dreamy! And I like the looks of that old, beat up beadboard!!

Hola!

Hi friends!! I feel like I have been away forever even though it has only been a few days. With the warm, but humid, weather we have been beating the heat by going to the pool. But we have also been haaaaaarrrrrd at work putting the final touches on the laundry room (hiphip hooray!). We just have to install our counter top and finish painting the crown molding. Oh yeah and install a few shelves, decide on hooks for the wall and potential seating... but those are fun things. I really cannot wait to share, specially since this has been ongoing since March. Who knew that ripping out walls and floors was that much work? surely not I.

At the end of the day, working in the heat I really wish I had a spot like these to unwind.

Yes, yes and yes to all of the above!

I owe a great big thank you to Amy at Field Trip and Melaine at My Sweet Savannah!!! I entered a giveaway on Melaine's blog a few weeks ago for one of Amy's prints and I was so thrilled to win. I NEVER win anything so I anxiously checked the mail daily to see my new artwork!

I chose Amy's PEACE print, knowing that I wanted to place it in Wren's room. So of course I love the bird reference with the origami cranes.

I really wanted it to make a statement and feel very whimsical, so I decided to use a frame I had stashed away for yet to be determined projects.

I painted the frame white and distressed it, then lined the back with some left over wall paper.

And finally mounted Wren's darling new print!

I am hoping that it will give us some PEACE and quiet at bedtime, as lately Wren has not been a very cooperative participant of the bedtime routine...

I also found a little time to finally update the Wren's Room link under the "Our Renovations" tab. I am hoping that I can finally update the Master link soon as well as add the family room and living room transformations, so stay tuned!

Grey Console

When Sean first saw this dresser he gave me a rather blank stare. He is well aware of my abilities in the field of furniture makeovers, but this one seemed beyond saving apparently.

Of course the hideous gold wheels, imperfect trimwork, uneven sanding and color from a poor refinishing and dingy old knobs aren't going to be showcased in the latest Style At Home. But the original locking drawer, interesting lip along the back and unique, lower height made it worth the try.

And now I have to say that it is kinda my favorite (and Sean even mentioned keeping it, which can't happen now that it already has a new home)!

The old wheels had to go! and while removing them I discovered that there were once dainty legs lifting this beauty up that were sawed off to allow the ugly wheels. Makes me kinda sad, but some pretty new nickel casters added a delicate touch.

I LOVE the upper lip along the back. It would be so perfect for a change table or TV console to have that little bit of security and detail.

I did a custom mixed grey that gave me a totally 'Martha' vibe, and went with clean crystal knobs. I tried out some different handles, but kept coming back to the knobs.

It also has a lovely little secret in the upper drawer. I am certain this was a hand made piece since there are no stamps or markings anywhere to be seen, and funny little charms like this drawer lead me to believe it was made with a specific task in mind originally.

Gold feet and ugly stain aside, I think this one is a pretty special little gem~
