It is funny that I've never worked on a bookcase... I am asked about them all the time by clients but it isn't often that I find a decent, solid wood one.
But I saw this cute little TV stand and thought maybe we could do something cool with it...
Even though it didn't have a backside.
I LOVED the size and with a little love it really turned out nicely!
I cut a piece of beadboard for the back (from the pile of laundry room ceiling remnants) and used an air nailer to attach it.
It also needed something to add some detail to the bottom so I used another remnant, this time from the yucky old china cabinet I worked on last year.
With just those little details it looks like a completely different piece of furniture.

Hi Holly, isn't that odd I only worked on a bookcase too this week. They are a common request and yet we hardly paint them. They are time consuming though as you have to paint both undersides. I will post a picture of mine soon. Yours has come up gorgeous. Have a great week Sandy x

ReplyDeletelove the bookcase. when i look for furniture, i look for the great legs and detail. anything can be fixed with a coat or two of paint and some wood filler!!!
It is killing me slowly Cindy!!!! But alas we do not have the stove slot converted to gas yet so it is useless to us right now... not to mention that it won't fit in the current 30 inch opening. But that will hopefully change SOON!
