Doors and drawers and Wolves...OH MY!

A sweet reader by the name of Brandan recently commented asking if I could share client transformations, especially the colorful ones. Maybe I will round up all the pictures I have of colorful ones (because I always email photos before pickup for client approval)... but I think it would be a full time job to try and include them in blog posts. At the beginning of the week is when I tend to attack my pile of jobs, and by the end of the week my garage looks like this. None of these things are mine, and actually belong to 3 different people from JUST THIS WEEK.
This week there are lots of random doors and shelves that came from an armoire so large that the owner had it disassembled before arriving. So 4 doors, 3 side panels, a top and bottom and 24 shelves later it looks like I run an assembly line of sorts. Also mixed in are coffee tables, 3 dressers, a bed frame, a kitchen table and a glass display cabinet. And as soon as this all clears out it will start to pile back up before the beginning of next week when the cycle starts over again~

It just so happened that this week everyone wanted white!

And I have to tell you that I nearly lost my life just taking these 2 photos. I am still shaking just thinking about it. As I was standing there shooting the last shot I heard a strange sound. I had a bad feeling and so I slowly turned around to see a WOLF standing about 12 feet away. My heart started racing and I didn't know whether to run for my life or play dead!
I decided to bolt for the front door and sure enough he charged after me and I just managed to slam the door within miliseconds of him catching me. Sean couldn't see him at first and was wondering what the heck I did to myself (I was sobbing hysterically at this point). When he opened the garage he saw it and make a noise to scare it, causing it to run away. He insists that it was some sort of husky or something but I am 100000% convinced it was a wolf.
So if you see a news report about an escaped wolf from the zoo or something let me know so I can prove to him that's what it was~

  2. Scary!

Do you spray your items? I have always used a roller/brush combo and may want to make the leap to a sprayer..

  4. Oh my goodness, how scary! Wolf or dog...it charged after you, girl! (I had a similar incident with a large animal and have wanted a taser ever since!)

As for all the furniture...it looks great. A couple of pieces remind me of my childhood furniture...which my daughter still has.. It's got a million layers of paint on it too!!!

So glad you're safe and Wren still has a mommy!! phew!

  10. oh my goodness! you poor {lucky} thing!! my own dad just got a huge chunk taken out of his thigh by a dog a month ago {dangerously close to tender muscles and arteries} and it was just a little medium sized dog that luckily bit him and ran away. (it came from behind too - he didn't even see/hear it coming)

a wolf?! ah! i'm so glad you daughter was nowhere in this situation - i would be crying just reading it!

  11. Whew you have no idea how stressed I was to leave the house a little later on with Wren! Thankfully Sean was with us and kept a watch out. I am not in the least afraid of dogs so I know just by how I reacted that it was definitely not a friendly neighborhood dog.

And we live in the middle of a city!! How crazy?!
Thanks for all the kind words~

  12. Oh goodness, girl! How scary? Hopefully, it was something other than a wolf...If it was a wolf...maybe it was Jacob from TWILIGHT? Bad joke! Glad you are okay!

  15. This is why I'm glad I live on the east coast where our only wildlife are crabs, cicadas and the occasional snake. Those I can deal with. A wolf I could not. So glad you're ok!!

  16. I don't usually comment, but when I read on your feed ...and a Wolf. I thought "oh she's gonna talk about eclipse" Not an actual encounter! AHHH. Scary, I know they say you shouldn't run, but I too would've bolted so fast! First instinct. I guess. So glad you made it in the house.

  21. Well thats weird...must have been a big scary dog. No matter what it was it didnt sound like a pleasant event thats forsure. Thank god Wren wasn't with you.

Question for you, i've been meaning to ask you for like ever and i keep forgetting and i don't see any info on your blog answering this question but do you paint the dressers with the drawers in them or do you pull them out and tape and wrap them?? If you have a faster way to get the edges of the drawers painted without messing up the insides of the drawers i would love to hear it - please share your secret lol!

Have a good Canada Day weekend!

  22. Oh my god that's scary! Glad you're able to run fast!

I have a table exactly like that large round pedestal table. I bought it from ebay and it's a yucky honey oak type colour. I've been wanting to paint it white but everyone tells me not to because I won't be able to get a good enough finish on it.

  23. OK...freaking! I would have been screaming as well! Although surely a would have alarmed said animal. Sure it wasn't Jacob from Eclipse coming to check things out? Sorry...got Twilight on the brain as I just saw the movie last night and started reading the 4th book Breaking Dawn.
    Probably not funny! SORRY =(
Glad you're safe none the less!

I have a question for you... First of all... love love love your blog and work! I love upcycling (as you call it) but hate sanding! Do you have any special tips on making it easier? What type of tools do you use?

  29. Please - a wolf?!!! Wolves are actually on the endangered species list & are very, very rare to see around neighborhoods! Did you know there has never been one single recorded attack of a wolf on a human being? Look this up if you don't believe me. They have gotten a bad rap from the movies & books. Please don't scare anyone with a wolf story. These creatures need to be saved - not to be threatened by.

  30. That is crazy! I have never seen a wolf for real, but I am guessing they are pretty large. We have coyotes and kit foxes out here in Nevada. And one night I was going to my car and saw a dog across the street and I said, "Hi doggy!" Like a dummy.
I realized in that moment it was actually a kit fox. Got into my car pretty quickly, but it was probably more scared of me than I was of it.
I can not believed the thing chased you though! Maybe it was rabid.
Be safe! And watch out for rabid husky/wolf hybrids.

  31. HOLY COW!!! freaky! are there normally wild animals around your home?! Good things your tenny shoes worked like they are supposed to! :)

Furniture is fabulous as always :) Have a great weekend!!

  33. How horrible of an experience for you! We have wolves up here where I live too! You're right they're quite large males weigh up to 144 pounds and females 110. I feel terrible for you! I'm scared to walk my dog on the nature trails in Anchorage because wolves do come in town and lurk on the nature trails that are interconnected to the raw wild.

    I'm just glad you're okay. :)

  34. That freaks me out just thinking about it!

  35. Oh how I wish it was Jacob LOL. That would have made my day!
Alex, I am not sure where you are located but there are quite a few wolves here. And Wren and I actually ran into a fox as well just a few weeks back coming home from the park. Even if there are no recorded attacks I didn't feel like being the first! Bears are also endangered but my uncle was actually killed by one 2 years ago so. Wild animals are always dangerous.
