Today I am completely in love with paisley. The paper looks even more beautiful up on the wall and I am so glad we overcame our debilitating fear of wallpaper (and removing wallpaper again!!!). Trust me, if you have removed as much as we have in this house you wouldn't want to touch it again with a 10 foot pole.

But as soon as the first sheet was up on the wall I knew it was exactly what we had been lacking before.

Today the weather is not being very cooperative for pictures so everything looks a little washed out, but I am sure you can see the effect. As soon as we have another bright sunny morning I will be in here snapping away to update our master reno link.

My latest dilema is now whether to go back to the black mirror for a punch of contrast.

Or stay with the soothing white one.

We also made the call to bring the settee upstairs and have already spent some time this afternoon cuddling with Wren and playing on it. I can tell it will be a great addition for us up here instead.

One of my favorite recent finds was this set of original drawings I picked up at Goodwill for $4.99 each. They are so whimsical and after the frame of the gold one is sprayed black as well they will reside on my side table leaning against the wall.

I am hoping that sunny day will be shining through these windows tomorrow!

Now we are off to enjoy a romantic dinner and movie while Wren experiences her first sleep over at Grandma's! And catch up on a LOT of sleep~

  3. I love the white mirror...like you said, it's soothing. The black looks good as well but it takes the focus away from everything else. Beautiful job as usual!

  4. I love the wallpaper. I would go with a blue for the mirror. Maybe like the throw on the bed and the chair that is peeking to the left of the pics.

  5. Really pretty! I know it's not your taste as much, but I think a silver mirror-- a Louis Phillipe style, maybe?-- would look amazing with that paper. If not, I would go with a deeper gray. I love the paper!!!!

  18. Very pretty wallpaper. I think the black mirror balances the black picture frames and the blackboard on the other wall. What a serene bedroom you have created.

  21. i like the black mirror. it has more contrast and brings the other black elements in the room together. i also like how the shape of the mirror matches the inlaid detail on the chest. works really well together.

  26. i love everything about it.

And not that it matters, but I like the white mirror better. more serene. And i don't think a punch is necessary in your room.

  27. go with a lt blue mirror. I know what you mean about the wallpaper. WE removed it in all our rooms, but ended up putting it back up in th3e dining room. Some rooms just need wallpaper. And yours is beautiful!

  28. It's absolutely gorgeous! I myself like the black mirror as it picks up the black in the frames and the chalkboard. The settee looks great in there.

  33. I'm no master at decorating, but I love the grey paint color you chose for the legs of the settee and think the mirror would look good that color. Otherwise I like the white one but I tend to like bedrooms to be soothing. Black is great too with the cute round pillow you have on the bed. My favorite is probably the chalkboard art you created... it's adorable. :) I love your blog Holly, you are a great artist of furniture. Keep up the good work!

  34. It looks phenomenal! When we hung our wallpaper it was so scary that my husband wouldn't even touch it - but we both love it so much now! Also, I really think the black mirror looks great against the paisley wall.

  35. Beautiful!!! Love the settee in the room, so cozy! And I think the white mirror looks best. The black is fun, but it distracts from everything else, and looks really "heavy" on that table. Just a thought:o)!

  43. love it!

i like the black mirror only if there's some black accents to balance it off on the other side of the bed

and just curious, how do you manage to get your husband to agree to NOT have a TV in the bedroom??! My husband's dream would probably to have one in every frigging room in the house!

  44. Beautiful as always! I love the mirrors. What about one that is painted the same blue as the chalkboard frame? Anything you do is divine :)

p.s the bead board paneling in your laundry room is great. We used the same paneling all over in one of our houses, I just loved it. I never thought about using it on the ceiling! Great idea! Can't wait to see it when you get done.

  54. I notice you have no clocks in your bedroom. do you hide those (along with their ugly wires) for the picture taking? As a fellow mother, I'm sure your alarm clock (like mine) comes with short legs, a cute smile and a very wet diaper!

  55. I vote for the white mirror, the black is too much dark contrast in such a light room.
