If you don't hear from me for a few days, understand I am probably hanging out with the likes of these:

With the flash you can see the details on this gorgeous buffet (with really cool detachable rear mirror).
Without the flash you can see the true ebony color of the wood. I am almost tmpted just to bring it in as it is!

There are 6 matching chairs that are just amazing! The set dates back to the 1800's and is definitely one of a kind.

The table goes as small as this 54inch circle, but also has 3 additional leaves with their own feet (sitting on the table).

This poor guy has seen better days, and I have already invested hours since this picture in sanding down the crackle paint treatment. It is slow going, but I can already see the potential!

The scary thing is that these are the last on my giant list of projects! Wish me luck~

  3. I really want a round table.

Was the crackle dresser made like that from new, or did someone make an attempt at painting it that way?

  4. Suzy, it is about 110 years old, but someone attempted this VERY recently, and the worst part is that they shallacked it up on top of the crackle! After all my sanding it looks as though someone did paint it navy blue 20 or 30 years ago too...

  24. Where, oh where do you find such fabulous pieces?! I just found your blog recently and you are such a talent, I am (nicely) envious :)

I live in Portland, OR and our thrift shops are quite spendy for furniture!

Can't wait to see these redone.

  27. Hi Holly! I have been following your blog for some time now - somehow my sister found it (who also has a love for all things white). What you do is so beautiful and inspiring, I've tried a few things of my own since then. The wierdest thing happened today also...my friend was highlighting my hair at her place today and she showed me her new headboard - I immediately recognized it from your blog! I was so floored and confused (since we are from Calgary, not Edmonton where you are) at the same time. She said it was from Edmonton from a girl named Holly - she found on kijiji - what a small world! Anyways it looks gorgeous in her room and just wanted to say your blog has inspired to listen to my creative urges! thanks so much!

  28. They are going to look amazing!

Oh, I discovered a new antique mall today, and they have about 3 entire huge booths that sold only ocean and ship paintings. There had to be at least 200 of them, and almost every single one was in the style of your wall!

Some gorgeous frames too, you would have loved it.

  30. Where do you find these beautiful pieces of furniture!!!!!!?

  31. Question: Did you paint the top of that buffet or did you cover it with metal? I'm assuming the former. Cool stuff.

  32. LOVE your finds and the outcome! I'm loving the chairs!!

  33. The buffet and dining set are absolutely beautiful pieces, I think they would stay their most beautiful/valuable in their current condition. They are not something I would paint over. Congrats on the great finds, looking forward to see where you put them!

  35. Wow, those relly are impressive peices. Is the current ebony salvagable? This is one I'm really eager to see the outcome on (more than usual I mean), it's like a good episode of LOST of something...must tune in next time to see what happens next! :)

    Good Luck!
