ReplyDeletewell, i might still be reading "The Help"...a great story about times in southern Missippi,....GREAT book....I'm almost finished though. Next book I'll start which I may be reading then will be "Mississippi Sissy", a similar true story about life in Mississippi in the 60's. Saw this hardcover book in our local thrift store the other day and thought it would be perfect to lead into this next southern story!
My client right now is in Mississippi, so I enjoy reading more about the state and all the stories.

It's a book I've wanted to read for ages now but mainly prompted by the fact that I have to teach a class on it. Thinking about the criticisms of domesticity that Friedan makes in the book, while nestled in the products of (traditionally) female domestic labour, is rather poignant.
