By now I am sure you are well aware of my love affair with grey. Most people consider it a cold, depressing color, but thankfully that it slowly changing. I usually associate grey with soft, romantic old swedish furniture and fluffy clouds and worn down pebbles at the bottom of a stream. It is very relaxing to me.

In my studio yesterday I had a blast working on a set of antique nesting tables and a darling old dresser, but my heart skipped a beat when the first coat of grey went onto a tall pine cabinet I had sitting on the outskirts of my pile. It is tall and features glass paned doors from top to bottom, with a sweeping arched top, and I hope to share it with you all tomorrow!

But until then (I say that way too often, don't I?), here are some great grey cabinets floating around.

... before I take off I want to also thank a local reader by the name of Colleen, and her boyfriend Ryan! Remember this glorious antique dining set I had recently acquired? So many of you commented and emailed me about not painting it, and well, Colleen rescued it unscathed from the grip of my paint claws. So sleep a little easier tonight knowing that thanks to Colleen it will continue on in it's glorious ebony-stained life.

  2. I love grey too! We just moved into a new (to us) house and have been busy painting the living room, hallways, master bed and bathroom in shades of grey! I can't wait to see what you did.

  3. I too am loving gray. I have a large old TV cabinet from the 1800s in old gray paint - LOVE! Then, I found another smaller old gray painted cabinet with a door & shelves - it perfectly hides my children's books - another favorite piece of mine!

  4. While not in my palette, I agree that grey is gorgeous. (If I ever redo our bedroom, I am going to consider it. I love the way it looks with yellow.)

Did I read that you have a set of nesting tables that might be available??? I am likely VERY interested - please let me know. :)

  5. Love the glass front cabinet in the last picture. I also loved those pieces you sold. I'm not a dark wood person, but I couldn't have put a paintbrush to those. I'm glad someone purchased them! ;-)

  8. I love what you did with the cabinet; and I am glad you took the readers advice on the dining table - it is a beautiful contrast to the chairs. I painted the doors of my kitchen cabinets grey and left the frames white. I couldn't afford new cabinets and I love the alternative!! Grey is one of my new favorite colors, too!!! Love your blog.....

  13. I really liked the pictures of the different grey cabinets. Grey is very soothing. I recently finished a Hutch that I did grey. It turned out a little bit on the blue side but I like it.(Pictures at 'Mystylemyown') I was going to sell it because I didn't think it would go good in my house but I put it in my house and I guess I'll have to keep it for now! haha you probably know the feeling. A grey piece can sneek in anywhere and look good. Can't wait to your finished Grey piece!

  14. Can I be your friend? J/K but I just had to tell you that you are amazingly talented and I love your house and your work. It's so fun reading about all of your projects. You totally inspire me. I'm a quilter, but you make me have the itch to be a furniture refinisher. You're awesome. Thanks for sharing all of the lovely pics.
