I have always been a fan of a glittery-christmas (I know some are over it, but I don't think you can ever have too much glitter during the holidays). Maybe we will do some cards or something that lets us use every color!

Thank you again for all your amazing powder room suggestions!!! Thanks to a few suggestions to add sconces on either side of the mirror I brought these home from HomeSense last week. Of course when I got them in the room I discovered the right one wouldn't have enough room between the wall and the current mirror since the back plate is fairly substantial. But I loved them too much and just had to find a new spot for them while the hunt for ones that fit continues so I thought they would add a little touch of shiny elegance to the family room fireplace.

I just changed the chalk board this weekend, slowly getting ready for the holidays. As they get closer I will be adding fresh greenery and a garland to the mantle, a well as our stockings. So in the meantime it is admittedly a little bare. But change is good~
Love the sconces. Are they candle sconces or actual electrical sconces? Please say candle, please say candle, please say candle ...
ReplyDeleteYup! They are candle!!! Easy to hang~
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and you can't beat $20!
ReplyDeletelove the glitter! can't wait to see the glittery projects!
ReplyDeleteAh, NOW I see the candles. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on the glitter! Love it and its just not Christmas without it! And, I have to say...that coffee table really is awesome! ;o) ~mary~
ReplyDeleteYou are so well at placing things in the right space!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful hand-lettering (my typography professor would be impressed)! And I love the sparkly sconces...they seem just intitme to bring a little extra Christmas warmth to a room :)
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks everyone! I did the writing freehand, but have always had a problem with things not centering and kind of sliding down the right side of the page and it shows LOL. But I am going to convince myself it gives it character and try really hard not to be a perfectionist~

Francesca
My husband got a little worried as I began reaching for the screen muttering "must have sparkles." Eh, I too love glitter for the season!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sconces work perfectly in that room!
That glitter pack is amazing - I just made some Christmas postcards and used some glittery embossing powder and they were GREAT! Glittery Christmases really are the best. When else do you get to be that glam?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't know how you manage to be so darn artistic, but I love those sconces, and it seems like every time you add something it just turns out gorgeous. Keep up the great work, I love your blog!
Yummy glitter colors!
ReplyDeleteAnd must say what beautiful handwriting!
Hi Holly, I love your style! You have inspired me to start my own little business. Can you tell me the exact model# of Campbell Hausfeld sprayer that you use? Do you only use water-based paint? When you distress your furniture what do you do it with; sand paper, a chisel? Do you use a stain or a glaze and what color? I couldn't find the answers on your FAQ's Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the Martha Stewart glitter. I was eying it this weekend while out. Can't wait to see your home during the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI need that glitter set!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see all your christmas projects! You always inspire! As far as my camera goes, I just use my Nikon D40 with the lens it came with. I never use the flash so I think that helps. I've got one area in my house that just seems to take amazing pictures--the light must just be perfect there because I know it's not me! It's surrounded with windows so I think all that natural light must do wonders. Sometimes I'll bump up the exposure on flikr too (with the piknik editing feature.) I hope that helps, but your photos hardly need help! They are always gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove love love your blog...I have been a follower for a few months now, let me just tell you I love your work! Keep up the good work. Love glitter as well nothing else makes Christmas decor as festive as a little glitter sparkle! Can't wait to see your holiday projects! Summer
