Welcome to the Striped phase!

Van Gogh, Picasso, all artists have periods of preferred styles right? About 2 nights ago my Mom was over and out of the blue suggested that I try hand painting details onto various pieces. In that instant a lightening bolt of inspiration hit me for a dresser that has been completely painted for close to 3 weeks now but that I have not felt was really done. I decided to combine my love of turquoise and stripes and here is what happened:

To give it a "beach cabana" feel I distressed just the blue paint so that it was slightly faded in spots and the white shows through in others.

Love it! There is nothing I love more than a piece of furniture refurbished/re-purposed to something fresh and new! You totally inspired me to finish sanding the dresser out in my garage!

All of your work is beautiful! I am so inspired every time I look at your blog. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of brushes/rollers do you use to paint your furniture pieces?

OK Holly, I've been STALKING thrift stores in my area and cannot find what you might consider affordable furniture. I can't find anything worthwhile for under $80.00 and it's nothing close to the stuff you're finding. Seriously, how do you find such great deals on furniture? What stores or places are you getting your furniture? Please share.
