I now have 95% of the fireplace complete! The only things remaining are the decorative ledge, painting the brass bars, and caulking and painting around the mantle.

Close up on the subway tiles (these were not nearly as easy to install as I had hoped, but they do look amazing):

I used some of my mistinted paint to change the color of the mantle. Once it was distressed it matched the rest of the mantle perfectly! It was previously a yellowy-butter color, and this accents the tiles much better:
Now on to the floors!!!

ReplyDeleteyou will have to post about how you painted the brass bars. i have been wanting to do that with ours, but i've been afraid that i wouldn't use the right paint and it would melt off or something when we had a fire.
